Would you ever say it even if you didn't mean it or believe it to be true? For instance, someone says it to you, and you don't want to hurt their feelings, so you just say it to be nice or you say it out of guilt?

Or do you think it's not right to throw those words around, unless you actually mean it with all your heart?

in the first position u stated I would reply with a lame joke, sarcastic reply, or any random reply :yes:. and I always do this.
and I guess I would use it when I mean it :).

when i say it, it doesnt have to mean something to me as long as i know it would mean to the other person :p

like when i do something wrong and feel guilty, i always say "u know i love u" then shoot the crime :D... it always has a good impact as i dont usually use it unless i feel it is needed

Sometimes I might patronize people, but I'd never get personal with someone when I don't mean it.

"I love you" is just "I love you",as sweet as it sounds...

I used to be nice, and say it back altho i didnt mean it, but once i had experience the feelings i take those word very seriously, coz i cant give someone some false ideas and hopes. End of the day its lying and hurting someones feelings.

I said I love you once when I din't really mean it.. I just couldn't not say it...
It was hard and I'm too much of a coward..

"I love you," is such a strong word, I don't think it should be said when the person saying it doesn't mean it. Okay, you said because they said it? wouldn't it hurt them more, when they find out you don't really love them and you only said it because they said it and you don't want to hurt their feelings? Didn't you hurt their feelings worse than it should be hurting?

Personally, you should say it when you really mean it, and is made sure of your own feelings.
