Howcome is there a difference in speed with every individual who reads?
What determines the speed of reading??...
What type of reader are you? Fast or slow?
Has speed of reading got anything to do with intelligence or cleverness, or is it just practice?
Is reading fast something you learn?
Is reading fast better than reading slow?

Everyone is different, one's brain is different than another. Some have the capability to interpret words and understand them quicker than others.

What determines the speed of reading??...
Your brain and how it interprets the words and makes you understand them.

What type of reader are you? Fast or slow?
Not very fast, but fast..because am not slow :D

Has speed of reading got anything to do with intelligence or cleverness, or is it just practice?
Just practice

Is reading fast something you learn?
Maybe

Is reading fast better than reading slow?
No, because maybe sometimes you forget reading something or reading it quickly doesnt keep the idea in your mind for a lot of time, sometimes you forget what you've read.

^ not bad...

I think I would consider myself a slow reader... don't read fast unless I skim through the pages and that's not really reading.... when I read I need to understand every word... and I do that...slooowly :S

I think I read somewhere that the average speed of reading for people is about 2 to 3 minutes to a page which means in an hour reading a novel you'd only do 20 to 30 pages. If that's true I suppose I'm an average reader. And since I never read more than an hour a day, it takes me a couple weeks to finish a novel. But when I'm on holiday I can do a novel in 3 or 4 days.

I always envy people who read fast and can finish a book in a couple of days. I have stacks and stacks of books I want to go through and will probably never reach.

i guess it does differ 'cause some are able to understand faster and are more used to reading than others. for example : my mom and my lil cousin are total bookworms lol..and they're very fast readers..i also think it's something to do with how young you were when you started reading..

What determines the speed of reading??...
your ability to read..and also what are you reading, sometimes the books that contain so many difficult words or words you're not used to, it'll obviously take a bit longer for you to understand..it may also require you re-reading that part which will obviously slow you down..so even if you were a fast reader..this might slow you down.

What type of reader are you? Fast or slow?
fast! lol, usually if I'm into the book and it's about 600 pages i finish it in 3 days :cute: but it depends on how hard the book is..i mean for example : "a hundred years of solitude" is like really hard? lol..you have to be a fast reader and you really have to know HOW TO READ! it's very confusing.

Has speed of reading got anything to do with intelligence or cleverness, or is it just practice?
practice, practice and more practice..even if you're not a fast reader, reading more would help you get better and become a lot faster :cute: i've also heard that you can get courses that help you develop the skill of reading fast..

Is reading fast something you learn?
i'd say yes..somehow it is.

Is reading fast better than reading slow?
i don't know..i mean as long as you're getting what you're reading it really doesn't matter.
