Dark Project, I believe that you are referring to Jaundice (Bu6faar in Arabic) & not the disease known as Yellow fever itself

Yellow Fever occurs in the Tropicals, a viral infection transmitted by Mosquitoes, it doesn't occur in Oman, no way, no how

It has been referred to in the past, check this post (http://www.englishsabla.com/forum/showpost.php?p=763793&postcount=17)

To be precise, you asked bout the Jaundice in babies, I opened a thread about it last year while I was an intern in paediatrics in Buraimi

Check this out: Newborn Jaundice (http://www.englishsabla.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36521&highlight=jaundice)

Regrading the 2nd part of your question, which is cutting or making holes in the ears, that is a myth & has no affect whatsoever on the condition itself, being that for children or as practiced on adults when their ears are scraped with a blade

The more serious of those mythical treatments is the one done by placing a hot iron on certain parts of the body, which is also believed to cure the Jaundice, this on many occasions results in serious burns & leads to wound infection
