View Full Version : Would you consider it offending or not?
Haroundb 07-05-07, 10:35 AM If a member negatively reputed you with "you're such a drama queen." would you report it to the Admins or not?
(UPDATED) READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU POST!
I am just wondering if a reputation comment is offensive or not, I am 'NOT' complaining about a reputation that I got!
Endure Whisper 07-05-07, 10:45 AM I won't. I don't see how offensive that is.
The most interesting red rep I got: said *edited-sharing rep comments is a violentation to ES rules, please be aware of that.*
I took it with pride.......
So just take it like a man.....or in this case a queen.
BTW....what's wrong with drama queen's? Are you sure they didn't write drag queen?
fatak
Haroundb 07-05-07, 11:11 AM You know what is the problem...It is that I don't know what is "drama queen". Should I look it in the internet? Or just ask some friends? They guy (member) who send me this rep is a one who always 'only' red repute me with "harsh" comments.
I just wonder why would you take a slap proudly sense there is nothing to be proud of being slapped.
Haroundb 07-05-07, 11:21 AM Just wondering why people who want to disagree just don't say it in plain English:
- I don't agree
-Wrong attitude
-Isn't right to say so.
-Sorry but I don't agree.
-That is your brain.
-That is a wrong reply
-I don't think so.
etc.
Shouldn't we just say something straight without being rude to others? I think if someone is going to repute me with this "Drama Queen" thing, he would be just pushing me into reacting. I know for sure that 'he' was doing so sense a very long time, and if you look at my reputation list you will find (thank God) only green dots with him (and only him) red dotting me.
Red doting is not bad as we understand that it is just a sign of disagreement, but what I don't get is why add extra 'hate' powder to the already baked attitude?
oh come on haroun. You need to be able to take criticism as well as compliments.
If someone said, "You're such a great guy" instead of "I agree" would you complain?
Drama queen means you make a fuss about nothing. Like someone who makes a mountain out of a molehill.
I don't know what post you got it for, but is that really offensive?
If someone keeps disagreeing with you, then you have to take it like a man. You can't please everyone and red repping is as legitimate as green repping. We can't b*tch and moan over the red ones unless you would also moan over the green ones given for 'nothing'.
Personally, It's not offensive at all. I keep calling several of my friends Drama Queens, and sometimes myself when I exaggerate and make a big deal out of nothing. It's just describing a reaction.
Yeah, no big deal.....this whole rep thingie is kinda wierd anyway.....cause you know all the cousins be green reping each other even with the One liners......look at Ice Tea......he rarely writes more then 1 line.....but just because he is the Minister of Marriage license's son he gets the green reps.....
If you really get pissed off with the red rep......cause zap em back.....

Same story again. I thought there are rules about such topics.
Superbia 07-05-07, 12:38 PM I believe repping is a personal thing between you and teh sender or you and the reciever. I wouldn't report it, just keeping it to myself would do.
Haroundb 07-05-07, 01:15 PM OK, please read my first post in this thread, I have updated it, or click here

It all depends if the rep comment falls under two categories; if it was personally insulting or totally disrespectful comment.
Though most of the time, such comments come out more silly and childish and I would simply ignore them, since they wouldnt be worth the time or effort to complain against them.
Yes, another reason that can drive me to complain is if the rep comment kept repeating for couple of times. In such case it would be considered unrequired disturbance and stopping it would be a must.

At last, a man with a brain! THANK GOD!
Haroundb 07-05-07, 01:42 PM Now if a reputation comment (and specifying reputation because people are more free to use illegal words there), containing the following expressions, would it be offensive or not:
- I will dang you if you were wrong.
- You kiss it good-by
-Give me y ammo from under the horse
-Eat my nagging ding-dung
-G your spot! Can't wait to see it...
LosT_SouL 07-05-07, 01:46 PM I don't care about any red rep .. Just love to read what people think of me ..
People can say what ever they want .. This does not mean that they know what they talk about or they know anything about me..
ToomuchaT 07-05-07, 04:29 PM .. i call those who red rep me by FAC : Fat Australian Chicken!!
.. it's really dead simple.. if u have something u disagree with .. all what u have to do is to post it in that thread n discuss it with the whole lot in that thread!!
.. Haroundb case.. i guess it's something personal n somehow both memebers should see themselves to a point.
death rose 07-05-07, 04:37 PM haha im gonna laugh at that person and then do nothin
why would i care :D
I never get offended by reps, only by rapes

is more or less to make a fuss for nothing
no one told you ever in this life ?
well if no, take it as good advice to meditate and be better
Yes, the comment is offensive.
The most offensive thing about it is that it refers to women. If you apply it to a man, you are insinuating that he is gay or at least feminine.
A drama queen is someone who tries to get attention for herself all the time by big emotional displays. Between friends, as LYM notes, this kind of thing can be cute, or a joke, or kidding around. But as part of a serious criticism from an unfriendly source, it's offensive, especially toward a man!
But: so what? I get offensive remarks from people all the time. Usually I just write a thank you note! :p Why should stuff like that bother me? Once I wrote back politely and actually got an apology! So, I wouldn't worry about it. Insults from an idiot are compliments, right?

Jeff, 'drama queen' is not gender related. It is an informal or slang term for someone, man or woman, who is melodramatic.
http://www.wordwebonline.com/en/DRAMAQUEEN
One could simply say, "Oh you're so melodramatic" and it would mean the same exact thing.
Don't confuse the word "queen" with for example, drag queen.
Another example would be 'Prima Donna' .. would be used to refer to a vain and tempremental person. Male or female. Like when referring to a man who's obsessed with how his hair looks, we'd say "Oh he's such a prima donna" .. for example.

I wish I got such colorful red reps! Mine are usually very bland.

I've been called a drama queen be4 and never got offended.
Anyway I tried reporting offensive reps be4 and was ignored, so theres no point.
I think it's the word 'queen' that's offensive to men...but I wouldn't make a big deal out of it...it's usually the people who have issues the most whom red rep with such comments anyways.
TripleTee 08-05-07, 05:07 AM offensive?... no... something i could easily ignore. and if i was i'd be glad it bothered them so much they wasted time on sending that rep...
but nah... wouldn't offend me.
