I think it's nature via nurture that makes us who we are. Individuals inherit certain genes from their parents, but whether these genes become active or remain dormant depends on environmental stimuli.

I think, the Environment is the main reason behind anyone personality .. Can not imagine the genes will play any role in such a thing .. It's all about how you 've been raised and the people surrounding you and the society ..
The house itself has its own effects on the our behavior and how will be years later on ..

aha, now there's the KEY word...."the right environment"..now let's say it's not in a person's genes to be aggressive...but they live in an aggressive and violent neighbourhood, what then? would that person remain the same according to the genes?:p

Environment has a big influence on how we turn out to be.

Our surroundings influence us.

I think they're both important BUT nature is a bit more because you can only work with what you've got, and so if you're born with limitations (and all human beings are in their own right), you cannot go past those limitations (of course there are FEW exceptions to every rule). I think that maybe people think that nurture is more influential because it colors the blank slate that nature provides.

How do you explain siblings being so different when they are brought up in the same environment, under the same upbringing and by the same parents?

Genes have a greater role than we'd like to admit, I think.

I would give the genes the upper hand here, there are many differences between people living in the same environment, but what makes them different is what they inherited from their parents I suppose..

65% Genes
35% Environment
