Distance Learning is the process by which technology is used for education in ways where the student does not have to physically be in the place where the teaching is taking place. Access to the instructor is gained through technology such as the Internet, interactive videoconferencing and satellite.

Distance Learning is a mode of delivery for students who do not attend on-campus courses. Courses are delivered by correspondence, telecommunications, internet and web-based media, or combinations of media, and may include short periods of on-campus attendance

What do you think of Distance Learning ?

Is it effective as much as it with normal Learning system ?

If you have a chance to study as a Distance Learning student, will you ?

What are advantage d disadvantage “ in your opinion “ ?

1- I have noticed lately that a lot of institutes are providing such programs, even while browsing the net you get those pop-ups asking you to apply for a masters in MBA online, sounds practical for certain fields

2- No it isn't

3- No

4- The biggest advantage is getting a qualification while staying home & the disadvantages are: lack of in-person contact & communication, no immediate reply or feedback

It would be nice to hear from someone who underwent such a program

I know a friend who had studied many certificates from Universities in UK and she got a well known International Certificates ! and thats why I am asking for more opinions, cause personally I am not accepting the distance / online studies.

But there are many good interested qualifications that are sometimes not available here !

Storm, let's presume you got your MBA online & you apply for a suitable post in an organization, there is only a single vacancy & there's another applicant who got the MBA through a conventional academic program

Who has the upper hand?

Sure the one who put more effort has the upper hand here !

But I am not talking about really serious degrees like MBA or PhD, cause it won't be reasonable !

I am talking about kinda of certificates, diploma in certain fields that aren't available her and it is a good to be hold

What I know is that you can do online courses, & these are more to be individual, which means you go for a single course, do the exam & after that you get a certificate for passing that course. Its not like going for a diploma/degree.

distance learning is a very good idea and it's very useful for ppl who have the desire to study something n cannot afford the living costs.. n good for ppl who do not like to be away from home!!

.. the certificate is the same as far as i know!

.. i have my friend whoz doin his PhD on distance learning with the same university im in and in the same major.. im doing it here but he is doin it while he is among his family!!.. at the end we both will have the same job opportunity!!

.. may be the only difficulty is the communication factor.. i have the chance to see the supervisor whenever i want.. but he has to be chattin over the phone of the msn lol.
