How can one determine the ideal weight in accordance to the height?

Is there a certain simple calculation?

The following chart summarizes it quite well

The following link is also useful: BMI (body mass index) (http://www.englishsabla.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35223&highlight=BMI)

Latest research shows that the BMI is not an accurate measure for ideal weight and all that. Waist to hip ratio is now more common, and is a better indicator.

And anyway, when it comes to losing weight, you don't want to reach a specific weight, you aim for fat burn and building muscles, and you look at inch loss, which is a lot better. Muscle is heavier than fat, so you might see that you're not losing weight but actually losing inches, and muscle is always better because it enhances your fitness and burns more because of it's metabolism.
