In some cases, YES it will ! cause the other side will definitely see how serious I am

If you provoke a person to get them angry and defensive and then you blame them for their reactions, then you are the one who needs to ask questions.

That is true, but many people as you mentioned don’t get provoked and they still get angry and defensive... you gave a clear example in one of the threads when you wished that you wish that Muslims don’t get defensive and all. :)

Well, you are right, of course. Everybody should look after themselves first, not criticize the others. If we are the one feeling angry, we should try to control ourselves. If we are provoking others and making them angry, we should try to avoid it.

My point was just that there are two sides to the story usually...

I think all of these things are rarely done on purpose. Most of the time when people act this way, it is emotional. They do it because they feel under attack, or somebody made them feel ashamed or something. Maybe they defend it afterwards, but they rarely plan it ahead of time.

So, I usually ask these questions the other way around.

If I got angry or snarky, I usually try to apologize. If there is a reason why the apology doesn't seem appropriate, I try to look for a way to praise that person for something good they did or said later on. (It has to be something actually good, though, not something made up to please them.)

If someone gets angry or snarky with me, I ask myself if I provoked them and then apologize or if I don't think I did, if there is some way I can smoothe the way for them to relax and change the way they are feeling and talking.

Do you think they have a problem in admitting that they were wrong?

1. No, not really . . But sometimes it helps with certain ppl who can not be serious when U discuss something with them ..

I don't think so, I am usually the cool kind of person who is very calm! I'd just sit there and smile :)
