Lesbians attack
US-Buckle, 29, told a girl on the street that she was attractive. Her friend abused him and he answered back. That sparked off a fight in which seven women attacked Buckle, beat him up and stabbed him in the stomach. The women who say they are lesbians claim it was a jealousy fight. Buckle was in hospital for five days and in bed at home for a month after undergoing surgery for a lacerated liver and stomach. The lesbians were sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation for assault.
Couple commits suicide over dog
INDIA-Unable to come to terms with the death of their pet dog, an elderly couple hanged themselves, police said. The bodies of 67-year-old C.N. Madanraj and his wife, Tarabai, 63, were found in their home. The childless couple had earlier held a burial ceremony for their dog of 13 years and hosted a feast for friends before hanging themselves in their bedroom. In their suicide note, they described their grief as unbearable.
Woman held as a man over rape
US-An inmate, who was jailed as a man on rape charges, was found to be a woman. Alexander David Cross, also known as Elaine Ann Cross, had pleaded guilty to the charge which stems from an alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl. Prison authorities suspected Cross, 42, to be female and forced her to take a shower. She was entered as male because her driver licence said so. She is likely to be released.
Man jailed for beating wife
INDONESIA-Seventy-four-year-old Abdurahman, who has 107 wives, has been jailed for beating one of them he suspected of being unfaithful. The victim, Tariah, reported the crime to police on the Muslim-majority's main island of Java. Islam permits up to four wives and only four of Abdurahman's wives were still living with him. Tariah is his second wife.
