A Glasgow, Scotland Catholic Church is in shock after the discovery of a body in their church last fall and now, there it is turning to disbelief after revelations of sexual liaisons and alcohol abuse by the parish priest.

Angelika Kluk, 23, was found bound and gagged and it was discovered that she had been beaten to death. At the time, it was a shocking discovery. But now, Scotland is agog at the revelations made during the trial of her alleged killer, Peter Tobin, a handyman at the church. The explosive revelations of illicit sex and alcoholism are all the more scandalous because the man who has admitted to sleeping with Ms. Kluk and to having a drinking problem is Father Gerard Nugent, the priest at St. Patrick's.

The trial is expected to last for at least six weeks and is scheduled to resume tomorrow.

Yet another tragedy in one of the Catholic Churches

The priest has denied the responsibility of her death but he had sex with her & drank alcohol

Ah, well, a terrible thing even if that priest isn't a murderer. I know so many priests, monks, and nuns that are marvellous examples of selfless service, I wish the newspapers would cover more of THEIR stories, too!

But I'm guessing part of your point is that the impressions you can get reading the news media aren't always completely reliable. Reading the papers, you might get the impression that Muslims are all crazy killers. And reading the papers, you might get the impression that Catholic priests are always raping boys and having affairs with women.

I too have personally known priests & they were wonderful people, how come their good deeds are never headlined!

But when some of them fondle the skinny behinds of young boys, they are on the front page

In a way it's unfair, but you know all the attention is helping us. We don't WANT these evil monsters to get away with this stuff. And it makes it harder for them to hide and for bad bishops to protect them.

The good priests that I know are upset that some people think they are gays who want to sleep with little boys or adulterers carrying on with women. But they are also VERY glad that these guys are getting caught.

One of my favorite bishops, in Lincoln, Nebraska, has had ZERO problems with his priests. And he told them when these stories started coming out: "If you abuse children, I will turn you into the police myself. I will come to visit you in prison, but I won't protect you."

Jeff, unfortunately some say it is what God wants & thus they are successful sometimes to deceive their victims

And sometimes they blame the victims:

Priest blames girls for abuse he caused (http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/story.html?id=a9b28207-58bd-4e0d-b8fe-57be11a56f73)

"These girls that came over there every day, they planned it," Sylvestre told Mr. Bailey. "I could hear them talking and they'd come in and sit on a chair and their skirt would be up to their crotch.? Well, it was kind of attracting."

The workshop is one of two being held by the Diocese of London as a means of educating the staff and raising awareness of sexual abuse in the Church in order to help prevent it in the future, said diocese spokesman Ron Pickersgill.

The jury in the Angelika Kluk murder trial has again been sent home due to the ill health of accused Peter Tobin.
Judge Lord Menzies apologised to the eight women and seven men for the adjournment and said he hoped proceedings would resume on Monday.

Church handyman Peter Tobin has been found guilty of raping and murdering Polish student Angelika Kluk.

The 60-year-old convicted sex offender attacked Ms Kluk last September at St Patrick's Church, Anderston, Glasgow.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard how Tobin concealed the 23-year-old's body in the church and then absconded to London, sparking a nationwide search.

Judge Lord Menzies said that Tobin should serve a minimum of 21 years. He described him as "an evil man".

Ms Kluk, who had worked as a cleaner at the church to fund her studies, suffered severe head injuries and multiple stab wounds before her bound and gagged body was dumped beneath the floor of St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church.

The jury of eight women and seven men took just under four hours to convict Tobin.

During the six-week trial, Tobin had denied raping and murdering the young woman and claimed that she had consented to having sex with him.

How come a priest who is suppose to be religious look at girls in such way when they come to confess. Indeed Satan can mislead humans!

But if this priest has a wife and family I think his situation will be different. At least if he think about women he will go to his wife to satisfy his natural desires.

Such stories will continue because there is something wrong in the system.

*yawn*

not again...

Never heard of married men having affiars or raping their own offspring?

You make it sound like having a wife solves all the perverted problems of such a person.

WRONG!

Exceptions always there, but having a wife could reduce such things dramatically. Espacially if the person is religious (like a priest), why he would do such things if he got a wife to satisfy him daily (even during her periods I assume)!

If a person can really bring his religion before earthly materialistic desires, as I think you do everyday before you are married, then such a person would not commit the act in the first place.

If he can't do that, he would have done it even if he had a wife. Why can't you understand this?

Having a wife has absolutely no effect on such a person, because they are not after sex that is "permitted" in the first place.

This is like saying that bank robbers steal bags and bags of money because they don't have a penny themselves.

I think having a wife has an effect, because there are many people who commit bad acts before getting married, but after marraige they change 360 degree to be a good people. Same case can be applied here I guess.

O'RLY?

Have it your way. I'm not trying to win an argument. I know I'm right and I know you are mistaken. Now, if you refuse to understand, it's your loss in the end.

What ever makes you happy. :)

Tea,

Do you think it is 'natural' for a man to want to have sex because of a woman in a mini-skirt?
