A Jewish Poem To The Palestinian Child Ali Jawareish
Ali Jawareish was 8 years old when he was shot dead by Israeli troops in Bethlehem. Initially, the Israeli Hadassah hospital refused to admit him. He was
later admitted, but it was too late. Ali died few days later. After his death in the Israeli hospital, Ali's family agreed on donating his organs hoping that this
may save other lives.
Moledet is an Israeli movement that requests the transfer of all Palestinians to Jordan. Peace Now is an Israeli movement that advocates peace. Kaffieh is
the traditional head-cover the Palestinian and Jordanian men wear.
A Poem To The Child Ali Jawareish
A little Palestinian child ascends to heaven
After he was accidentally shot by bullets
Ali Jawareish, eight & a half year, almost
Without a heart or a kidney
And with no liver... or lung
Father says:- May God avenge for him
And not "Who ever wants to kill you, kill him first"
Amid all of this agony, Abu Ismail, his father, stood and said:-
Let him save another life in Israel
Another life, and one more
And in a firm sound [the father says]
He [Ali] is not saving only one world
But several worlds he does
It is not important where the pupil or the heart be implanted
Whether in a son of a Moledet member
Or a man in Peace Now
Even of the donee is to serve in the Border Guards...
If it helps to save another life.
In Israel, there is now an Israeli child
With a Kaffieh [Arabic] beating heart
And in another, the kidney says that it came from far
And in a third, the kidney (chats) in Arabic
For the first time a lung entered the Green Line [Israel]
I do not know if the father deserves the title of "the friend"
In its religious meaning
But with [his] humanity and self pride
There is no doubt that the father is a true friend
A little child ascends to heaven
Paying with his blood the price of stubbornness and aggression
Ali Jawareish, eight & a half year, almost
Is without many organs
Yet, he is very complete
