We see and hear lots of charity committees in different countries as well organization housing and serving individuals whom are infected with the HIV/Aids Virus, people who are mentally challenged and recovering Substance abuser. Orphanage hospitals visiting people and children .
Do we have such thing in Oman and if so why is it not announced or has publicity :( .

Since when you can say or hear what you want in Oman ..
Sometimes they find silent and the cover is the best way to solve
such problems .. Dont forget why they cut Hanan from Tv ..

We have Dar el Atta - دار العطاء - ... havent U heard of it?
They do lots & lots of charity work...... many ppl know bout them....
I guess begining of this month they had a charity event.

We even have BankMuscat Hearts, which is a Charity Committee that consists of almost 25 younge hardworking staff that R fully engaged & committed 2 charity work.... 1 of their latest charity work was, taking the Kids from The Child Care Center - Al Khuwair for a day out @ Marah Land - QNP...... where they've booked the whole play area for them, provided them with a meal & before depater, they've given them gifts for memories... Check theweek of last Wed March 7th', page 27... that was 1 of their events earlier last month.

Lots of other organizations, even when they r not Charity committes, yet they do every once in a while, do some charity work...

BankMuscat Hearts had an event last Feb in Sohar & in sha Allah they R planning 2 have 1 in Salalah..... sometimes after June...

And guess how Tiny Heart knows all this?

What about as an individual has anyone visited the orphanage or places where some families reject their babies and they are sent to that kind of a place :( its so sad when you see them poor little children and they become so happy if you just pop in and get them some sweets or toys ...Think about it and spare 5 min of your time .. Honestly you will bring a smile to those little kids ...

The orphanage is open for even individuals. So you can visit and play with the children, they accept gift, but not used to use in the orphanage. As Tiny said not only individual many companies have been involved which are called social or community investment. I recall Shell Oman did that for orhnage.

You also can visit children touched with Cancer in SQU hospital. The parents love it especially if you carry colors and drawing books.

We have an organization like Oman Charitable Organization which the main charity body in Oman and they do so much work, helping unprivileged, especially like crises of rain where Omani nationals lose their homes and so on. They cover Oman as whole.

Dar Al Atta, has special programmes where they feed school children who are from low income family. Insuring that no child goes unnourished.

You have Al Wafa (if Im not wrong) headed by Mrs. Barka where looks after and prmote crafts of blinds. Also they need volunteers

Then there is early intervention centre also they look forward for the visits and good bags for children with special needs.

Most of these committies R kinda new in town, so they R still on the path of establishing them selves + most of them R non profit organizations... so they do their charity work for the good cause without the need 2 let the whole country know....

Yet, U may still follow up on some of their activities in local papers....

BTW, if U wanna help, there's something comming up sooon The Cancer Association............ give them a call or visit thier head quarter @ Athaiba & inquire bout the ' Jumble Sale ' event on the 22nd March '07.
