MUSCAT — His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, adviser to His Majesty the Sultan, presided over the inaugural ceremony of the 12th Muscat International Book Fair which opened yesterday at the Oman International Exhibitions Centre, Seeb.

The fair offers more than 100,000 books, of which some 4,000 were published in 2007. The fair will remain open for public from 9am to 1pm and from 5pm to 10pm. The fair runs till March 9.

Leading publishing houses and bookshops from Arab countries and around the world are participating in the event. A series of cultural seminars and lectures are being held on the sidelines of the fair.

The morning session is exclusive ‘schoolgirls only’ on March 3 and March 6, ‘schoolboys only’ on March 4 and 7 and ‘women only’ on March 5.

Had my first visit today .. got a number of arabic novels that I've been wanting to buy for sometime now ..I liked it and I am inshallah hoping to have a second visit ..

Hmm..Don't have time to go but I doubt I'm missing out on much. It's pretty much the same every year.

ofcourse its the same every year .. its a book exhibition!! the differences are the new books that got published since last year till today!

am planning to go today....hope it wont b packed.....

I went today, I only checked the English books section. It was okay, but last time was better. This time I got the same number & types of books I got last time, but the price is doubled!

I just came back from the Book Fair. It wasn't bad. In fact, it was sort of the same like every year. I bought two books, though.
