MUSCAT — His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, adviser to His Majesty the Sultan, presided over the inaugural ceremony of the 12th Muscat International Book Fair which opened yesterday at the Oman International Exhibitions Centre, Seeb.
The fair offers more than 100,000 books, of which some 4,000 were published in 2007. The fair will remain open for public from 9am to 1pm and from 5pm to 10pm. The fair runs till March 9.
Leading publishing houses and bookshops from Arab countries and around the world are participating in the event. A series of cultural seminars and lectures are being held on the sidelines of the fair.
The morning session is exclusive ‘schoolgirls only’ on March 3 and March 6, ‘schoolboys only’ on March 4 and 7 and ‘women only’ on March 5.
