Why is it forbidden in Islam?

So many women who suffer from Cancer, which lead to hair loss, wear wigs. Some of you might say: "she can cover her heard with a scarf". Well she does wear a scarf but she wears a wig when she's around women only or at home.. apparently, she was told that it's forbidden and she can't wear it even at home!!!!! I really didn't think it was true...

Another incident is with this student in the States. When 9/11 took place, she used to be bullied alot because everyone knew she was an Arab.. to avoid that, when she moved to another State, she wore a wig.. None of her body parts showed, she wore long sleeves, long dresses that covered her legs, high neck tops to cover her entire neck, and the wig covered her real hair.

Is it okay to wear wigs at such circumstances? and why is it forbidden to begin with? I don't see any harm.. well, maybe the part where some women will be encouraged to cover their hair with a wig instead of a scarf..

I think it's forbidden because of this hadith:

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah has cursed the woman who adds false hair and the woman who has this done, and the woman who tattoos and the women who has this done.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 5477).

But for a woman who lost her hair completely due to a disease then better to address this question to the mufti.

Thanks! I didn't know about this Hadith.

Everything is haram. Putting on a wig is haram. Putting on coloured contacts is haram. French manicure is haram. Make-up is haram. Hair dying is haram.

Why? Because you're being fake and phony
