I'm afraid I think the North Koreans will find a way to keep and go on building nuclear bombs.

But I tend to think that we cannot stop countries from doing that. What we CAN do is continue to develop and perfect techniques for defending ourselves from them. We have the beginnings of missile defense already operational. And we have developed prototypes of airborne and shipborne laser weapons that can shoot down missiles in the beginning of their launch phase.

We can defend ourselves and help others to defend themselves. But I think the desire to prohibit countries from developing nuclear weapons will not succeed, unfortunately. Fine to try in a relaxed way, to put some ecnomic and diplomatic pressure on people and maybe over time the regime will change and they will give up the weapons. But the accent should be on defense. And telling countries like North Korea and Iran that if they ever fire a nuclear weapon, their entire economy and war-making capability will be destroyed and their regimes will be removed.
