View Full Version : If your wife earned more...

A question to the Sabla guys mostly..

If your wife clearly earned more than you and earning a good wage meant that you could all live happier and more comfortable and give your kids a better education... and one of you needed to give up working for 3 years until their kids were of school age, would you switch roles and take on the house, cooking and the kids during the day so your wife can keep her better paying career?

To the ladies... after studying for 17 years of your life to get the qualifications you need to reach your career goals, would you appreciate a man who gave up his less paying job for a few years to become a stay-at-home dad?

She should earn really good then, something like US $10,000 a month, I won't mind staying home as long as I get my 50% every month

I would never be a house husband. I think I would blow my brains out with boredom. But I also wouldn't force my wife to stay home if she had a job.
But if one us HAD to stay home, i think it would have to be her even though she earned a higher salary. Money isn't everything :p lol

I just want my 50% of her income every month, I don't care about shared bank accounts

Now, if you worked, would you give her half your income? And who pays the bills? who buys the shopping? Who pays the maid? Who pays the tuition fees? The rent? The cars?

Wait, I think I answered the question in a hurry, does she have a life insurance policy?

How about, you give her half your wages, she pays everything that has to do with children you will have in future and for a surgical castration? :D

:D Hehe, it's more than that. It would be really weird relying on my wife for my bread and butter. I'm the man, I have to provide my family with the money! Dunno, i guess it's a guy thing, but i would really be embarrassed staying home. Plus i will have very important things to do at work, the world needs me too :cute:

Well why not? Even though women were created to live in the kitchen, I don't mind taking that role.. LOL!

No seriously, I don't mind taking care of everything at home..

Ouch fengy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I would never mind being a house man! That doesn't make me less masculine, as long as there is love & understanding. I do not give a damn to the society. Marriage is about sacreficing & I am sure she would do the same to me. Would be cool for a change.

As long as I trust he can take care of the kids and do a good enough job with keeping the house clean, assuming I'm very ambitious and I love my job, I wouldn't mind if we "switched" roles.

What kind of mother is this, who prefer going to work in order to get few extra 'rials' (oman currency) and leave her basic role as a woman in rasing her childern and taking care of her husband, house and family. At younger age kids needs their mother more than their father, so it's better she stays at home and the father goes to work (even with less income). That is the logic.

A mother who thinks of her family's future!

Her husband should be the one responsible for that, she better think about rasing her childern the right way.

Both of us can go to work and get some help to take care of the kids since we can obviously afford it, but I personally wouldn't be able to stay home, it's just not who I am.

I really don't think I would stay at home if I was paid pennies a month. And if I had to share the house duties, I guess I'd do it...

men should never be stay at home dads. It bruises their ego and I don't want th father of my kids to have low self esteem. face it , its been this way since ancient times. men go to work, carry bricks, build pyramids, feed the horses, ride the camels ...it's just what they are meant to do! so do it .

women who are educated should work...go reach your dreams, your goals, achieve what you wanna...but know that the most successful women is a mother who raises her children well.
