Medicine Vs Alternative Medicine

Whenever a person is tested with a difficult disease that will take long to heal, people start presenting the choice of other alternative medicine, expamples are Chineese Medications, Aerovedic clinics, Homapathy, body messages (very common for infirtility). What are your stance on those alternative medicines? would you choose them over medical means? would leave the docters prescribtions and choose to go to those prescriptions?

and Docters. I would specificly love to hear your opinions about them too

Its a steaming pile of crap thats what it is :p

Years ago when I was going on diets, I decided to try acupuncture... the doctor puts needles on my hands, elbows, mostly in the stomach and waist and then the knees.. she then grabs a couple of wires and plugs them to an electric box that makes them vibrate enough so you can "move around the Ki energy"

honestly, all it did was hurt my nerve on my hand..

She then proceeds to put these glued on seeds around my ear and says this will stop you from being hungry for a week... did it work? A few hours later I was still hungry and my appetite didn't change at all when I left it on for a week as I was still hungry...

Maybe it's good but I'm not sure if its effective... drugs and surgeries are where its at for me ^_^

Herbs & Ayurveda have been present for ages, there are millions around the world who have benefited from such therapies

I personally know people who had a stroke which resulted in paralysis & they benefited from acupuncture along with modern management & physiotherapy

Only recently, a man who developed a sudden weakness on his left side of the body, underwent Ayurvedic treatment in one of the well known clinics in Muscat & had great results & he can now move around without assistance

Alternative medicine does help people especially when it comes to managing long term chronic conditions

So many drugs that are used today were extracted initially from Botanical origin which proves that many herbs do treat different conditions

But the patient must go to the qualified individual in this field & unfortunately many in Oman go to some old people who are practicing such form of therapy without any license

As i suffer from allergies i have no choice but to use traditional medicines. Some work, some don't. I have also tried some local remedies - they are ok.
