Salam,

I know you are going to say that I'm such a nag, but I keep getting ill thee days :inno:. Please pray for me.

What is found in the area marked in red in the attached image? Is it a part of the ear, or does it have a gland?

It pains me a little every once in a while, and I have been feeling light-headed recently and I have a bit of fever.

I have an allergic nose, and it constatnly affects my ears and eustakios canals, so I keep on yawning in order to get my ears straight.

But the pain is new and the light-headedness is scarring me.

Could it be because of the elergy? I hope so. But, what are the other possibilities.

I don't want to see a doctor now. I have just had a very long sick leave for another reason, and my work will not tolerate a new sick leave soon.

I'm talking too much these days I know.

Afaik, in that area you have glands that swell and are a little painful when you are sick, particularily sickness of the ears, nose and throat. So, if for example you have a cold, then your glands are most likely to be swollen.

If you have any worries about it, you should consult your gp. But I think you're only doing yourself worse by worrying, so ask your doctor so you can have peace of mind.

I hope you get better soon. :)

The region you are referring to is known as the Mastoid Process, it is not a part of the ear but a part of the skull, it's common to get pain & tenderness over that region if you are suffering from otitis media which is infection of the middle ear

With recurrent untreated infections of the ear the person can develop mastoiditis

You should see your GP for further assessment & management

Good luck

I have had mastoid surgery when I was young.

Basically the mastoid bone was infected so they had to scoop out bits of it.

Due to the depression the crap that should usually drain out of the ear collects and causes problems.

Result ? I have to go to a ENT every few months to have it all cleaned out.

It is a real pain in the but.

You're not talking too much! :p

The medical questions are always interesting, but I do get sad about them also because I know you are having a hard time.

But hang in there. Your doctors will advise you; you will keep working on the problems; and your friends will support you and pray for you. Me, too...I'll pray for you, too!

You're not a nag and you shouldn't be shy about asking questions. It's a good way to get information and even a good way to get a Second Opinion sometimes. And even solidarity and sympathy: look at Wudjab's answer.

You're a very nice Cat: don't get discouraged! Meow!

ear infection can be transmitted to teh mastoid air spaces.

If infection is severe then you ahve to be careful since the infection can transmit to the brain coverings and cause meningitis... we don't wanna see you with a stiff neck.

anyway... good luck with your GP...must see him
