Hello good people,

I moved here from UK last year. My daughter will be in year 10 next year. I have taken up a task of teaching her IGCSE at home. I have a few questions which I would appreciate your feedbacks.

1. There is Edexel and Cambridge, what is the difference, and which one is taught here in Oman.

2. Is there any school I can register her just for the exam? I am giving her lectures at home, on top of what she is studying at regular school.

3. Anywhere I can get good study material?

4. How many subjects are needed for IGCSE, if she is going for science subjects?

I went to the British council and Azzan Private school, but could not get all the answers.

Thanks in advance, I would love to her from you, especially if you have done IGCSE or know someone who has.

I did my IGCSE's in UAE so this is what I know about it,

1. I didn't find any difference between Edexel and Cambridge.
2. I think you can register at the British Councel for the exams.
3. Family bookshop and al Batra bookshops. The bookshop in Dubai city centre has helpfull books.
4. I took 7 subjects but most universities just ask for 5.

I have done the IGCSE at Al-Sahwa Schools last year.
To answer some of your questions:
1. There is Edexel and Cambridge, what is the difference, and which one is taught here in Oman.
I don't know what is the difference but Cambridge is taught at Al-Sahwa Schools.

2. Is there any school I can register her just for the exam? I am giving her lectures at home, on top of what she is studying at regular school.
Go to either Al-Sahwa Schools or Sultan School. I recommend Sultan School, though.

3. Anywhere I can get good study material?

Check this website, might be useful

4. How many subjects are needed for IGCSE, if she is going for science subjects?
I am not sure about this one. But I think it's 5 subjects. Correct me if I'm wrong.
