A serial killer who was not born, but made.



I read that statment in one of movies reviews :os

How much do you agree/disagree with that? and WHY ?

I will keep my view for now and see what do you guys think.

Nature vs nurture.

In this case, a serial killer who knows exactly what he's doing is "nurture" or "made".

Serial killers are very clever people. Because they manage to cover their tracks well enough, buying time to kill again.

Like most other similar questions, the answer would be BOTH I guess. Or to be more precise, a mixture of both!

i don't really agree on that because everyone is a serial killer from his/her birth, it's just a choice that you take to become a murderer or not ...
and sometimes someone else can made you a serial killer .. :os
so no, i don't agree anyone can be a serial killer...

As children, serial killers usually show a triad of signs
1. bed wetting beyond the "normal" age
2. cruelty to animals
3. lighting fires

I also went through a phase on reading up about various serial killers and most of them had an abnormal upbringing i.e. parents are criminals, alcoholics, or abused them etc.

So I lean towards them being made.

No one's born a criminal. It all has to do with the habitat...the enivronment they were raised in. Their upbringing can majorly influence the way they're going to turn out to be once they reach purberty and onwards.

This concept of 'serial killer' is found in the western countries only, even there are people who are their job to kill people.

People are born innocent and clean but having the basic human being intuition, the brain is empty like a new memory chip.

Hmmm i doubt if somebody was ever born A SERIAL killer.i think the surroundings of the particular person during his child hood plays an important role.i mean if a kid grew up around unhappy enviroment...being beaten by parents...scolded most of the time...no friends....no care and love then most likely he will end up a serial killer or something

Exactly. Some tribes in Africa give guns to 5 year old kids. Many, being forced into becoming child soldiers, have murdered or killed someone by the age of ten. What are the chances that this child will grow up to actually get a high out of killing?

I guess serial killers aren't just any killers. They premeditate it and plan out their crimes carefully. Like mad perfectionists.

I will not go through the egos and super egos inside the person that could prevent killing desire from being washing his brain and exposing him to loosing his consciousness by continuing his act,
But I really put a lot of blames on the ‘loose’ laws where it allows freedom for one suspect to go on and on doing extra crimes and people still looking for solid evidence against him..

So a ‘ loose’ Law could play a big role in making one a serial killer ..

IMHO, all human beings are born in with the same innocent nature, but things AND people that surround them will make them whatever they become. Their lifestyles, environment, role models, etc. make their personalities and affect on them. Therefore, I think a serial killer is made but not born

Seriously, I believe serial killers have their brain wired differently. So I would have to say born.

Most serial killers had either divorced or abusive parents and some of them live a life of insecurity. Some of them had even killed his relatives at teenage. So technically, it's all the product of many, untreated psychological disorders.
