chances !!!
what the chance the anyone have in this country to become big and be a cool dude unless he is well connected.. what the use of good job, nice house, loving family, but when you walk on the street a tiny Police who dont know who you are and what do you do talked to you in shitty way that you regret to be here. moreover, he treat you like criminal when you park in wrong place.
everyone want to live in PEOPLE's place, and this is not it. better go and find where I become respected for being ME, and not how much I have in my pocket and what car I drive, and what is my family NaMe!!!!!

Greetings

Migrating to another country is not an easy decision to make, unless if you have a good reason, and I believe many Omanies have good reasons to leave the country either for good or for a while, maybe your right Sporty, not being connected could be one of the reasons, and there are many others, I think the most important is unemployment which is really having a bad effect on the country and the Omani youth.

Some people have dreams and ambitions that are hard to achieve in a country like Oman, so migrating to another country would be an alternative for them to reach their goals in life, it really depends on the person himself and what he wants to do, I wouldn’t like to interfere with others and what they do as long as they remember their origin and respect that.

I hope I made a point there, and if not, please do let me know, so we can discuss more about this matter.

Regards…

I think it depends on why u are migrating. If u are just going abroad for education and will come back, then there is no problem. But if we all decide to leave the country and migrate to look for a better future then who is going to make things better in Oman?
We can't just run away from our problems. I believe it is our duty as Omani's to stay and fight for our rights and try to make our beloved country a better place to live in, for us our brothers and sisters and our families. After all this country does belong to us!!! http://www.omania.net/evip/ubb/cool.gif

Brothers & sisters,

I think this is a sensetive subject and I would like to post my comment about it .. I do agree that to be able to live here in Oman is start to be difficult but believe me we are still far away better than many countries, we should be very honest and say the truth, if you are going to classify the countries, Oman will definitely will become one of the best.
Brothers & sisters, we are having the peace which is very imprtant to live with.
There are still many good things which I can add but I don't want to end up with a long massage.

At the end I just want to remind you that this is my openion and you might have different picture about our great country Oman.

In reply to Victor's post, indeed Oman is a beautiful country, in fact I believe it's one of the most beautiful countries in the Gulf, if not the Middle East as well, I also think it's a very peaceful and secure place. But remember the economical situation the country is going through, they are talking about Omanisation and employing Omanies in most fields, but a few of those young Omanies get good jobs, they still believe that expats are the experts and shouldn't be replaced with Omanies and that is totally wrong, cause there are many talented and smart Omanies who need to be given a chance, I'm saying this cause I have seen what truly is going on there, for example, (I hope I wont offend other nationalities), an Indian with some computer degree and past work experience back in India, will get a job in a computer company with a 1000+ O.R salary and doing nothing but talking and ordering couple of other people to do this and that, and what they really do is for example go and set up a small computer network for a company, and they charge hefty rates to their clients and they act as experts, such things can be done by many Omanies who know just a little bit more about computers and how to deal with computer networks, and when they bring in the young Omani to learn couple of things, they teach him nothing, why!!! Cause they don't want to loose their jobs and be replaced with an Omani.

But when such talented Omanies go abroad to study and graduate, even if they go back to Oman, it's not easy for them to get a job in the same field they studied, unless if they have some connections, it's not the same scenario in other modern and more civilized countries, in a country like the U.S.A, they believe in talents and productive people, and if you prove it to them, your in with a good future, who knows! maybe you get a job in Microsoft or something!, and when you go back to Oman you'll be proud of your self and what you have achieved, you start your own business in Oman and settle down. ;-)

Dear Unknown,

Yes there are many smart Omanis, but companies want people with years of experience, not just a degree. Anyway,we need more Omanis who have the necessery qualifications to be in Oman. I notice that the ones who are very smart are the ones who don't want to stay in Oman!!

Now; do they know something we don't? I think one thing they know is that there is a lack of getting satisfying and fulfilling careers in Oman. Very few people say that they are happy with work.

I used to be happy with mine, and my friends used to be surprised! Also they tried to make me feel negative about starting work even B 4 I joined the company. People are too negative and they try to spread this negative feeling on to others. I say , mind your own business and let me discover things on my own.

About living abroad....well I miss Oman, because I make the most of it when I'm there. I'm in Canada now and I think that Oman is more organised, has better services, and is cleaner and more friendly. http://www.omania.net/evip/ubb/smile.gif

We should use:
the sablah,
the live programmes in the Sultanate of Oman radio, and the newspapers to express to the government ( Ministery of Labour)that the salaries they set for the private sector to give to the Omani employees is really very very very little compared to the life expediture in Oman.

We should force them by so many requests to lessen (get less) of the foriegn employees, and they should employ the Omanis instead. because the Omanis - i am sure - are of best experience of these foriegn people who use the economy of Oman for the sake of thier countries.

And there are some more ideas that othres can think of. That is what I think, if i wish you a gree with me, because this is a very important aspect.
