Rank them, the best being first.
No need to choose them all if the game isn't an RPG.

-Graphics
-Story
-Fun
-Game Controls
-Battle system
-having a variety of options
-Realism
-characters

If you have any more choices in mind list them.

All I want to say is that I don't care about graphicas at all, and I prefer 2D RPGs.

Graphics (as long as it looks good to me then cool) , story (should be interesting) , fun ( should pull me in and make me want to play and continue playing), and finally the characters ( I usually like the cartoony looking ones).

At first I just didn't get the idea of RPG games, and I seriously thought they sucked! But then, and after watching my brothers playing, I got hooked and started playing myself! :D I got hooked on Dragon Quest, FFX and this other game which I can't remember its name..

What attracts me to a game is:

1-Story: I have to know what the story is before starting to play.
2-Graphics & Realism: How well the graphics are done and real they look because it would effect number 3.
3- Characters: then comes characters, who they are and their own stories.

I don't think I would care about the following three, because each game is different. If you like it enough, you are willing to learn the controls and get used to the battle system of RPG games:
4-Game Controls
5-Battle system
6-having a variety of options

And well.. Fun,is always there as long as the first 3 are awesome.
It's always fascinating :)

mine would be:
1. Story + Graphics, both're equally important for my perfect game.
2. Fun, if the game's fun to play it'll make me more eager to finish it.
3. Characters (one of them has to be cute :p)
4. Battle system... since victory's usually based on battles with the games I play... what type of battle system could tick me off if the first 3 picks weren't that good.
5.Realism... even if a game wasn't that real or the graphics were cartoony... if the story's good and the rest above, all's good.

Gameplay- It can also be considered as fun.. As long as the game is engaging and exciting I can play it for hours... there are some flash games that, while simple in graphics and story, are very addicting and fun to play.

Characters- Characters have to feel welcoming.. I don't like characters that are in the extremes of being too strong or too weak.. just moderate enough

Game control- Has to be very decent, simple and not too confusing or require you to punch a lot of buttons to execute one attack. After I played with the gamecube, it was very hard to play with a ps2 simply because I'm used to the ABXY buttons instead of circles and squares.

-Graphics.. While graphics aren't that much of a concern, its a huge plus if more effort was put in the game rather than making it as if its some kind of sloppy port.

story or plot or setting.. has to tell me whats going on, who am I after and what am I doing.. I don't mind this in some mindless games but for most adventure and fps games it has to have one

Realism- I only prefer that in first person shooters though. I get into gaming to play fantasy worlds and escape this world.. not to enter one like it :p

Oh you are SO RIGHT! One of them just HAS to be cute!! :shy: I love Sephiroth! (sp?) :p

Oh, you meant realism as in cartoony or 3D close to real life.. I don't know what I understood from that, but if this is the case, then yeah, I wouldn't miond cartoony or funky wacky characters! :)

Graphics: It has to have really good graphics, or I won't get addicted to it.:dev:
Story: I really don't care about the story, as in I won't stop playing if the story is bad.
Fun: I have too many games, I stopped playing for fun, I just wanna finish them.:os
Game Controls: I'll get used to them.
Battle system: Doesn't matter.
Having a variety of options: Having different stuff to do in the game is cool.
Realism: It can be too Realistic :yell: or too fictional  doesn't really matter.
Characters: I like it when all characters are human, not to have a tail coming out of the main character.:mmhmm:
