Fdaitny 20-12-06, 11:50 AM NoOo! I saw the preview! Is it the guy who kissed his sister? :XD: Loool!
Anywhoo, looking forward to watching this movie IF it comes out in Oman! :cute:
Teddy Yawza 20-12-06, 11:56 AM I don't think ill ever watch this movie. I can't stand silly comedy. :mmhmm:
^ Dude you liked White Chicks... silly comedy? :cutexD:
Anyhows, I don't like silly comedy either, that's why been long since I watched any comedy movie, Borat on the other hand seems very promising - looking forward.
Fdaitny, I don't think they will show it any place in the Middle East.
Teddy Yawza 20-12-06, 12:34 PM ^ LOL! White Chicks was genius funny comedy :XD:
Senorita 20-12-06, 02:38 PM Yes, I think so as well (That they wouldn't show it in the Middle East). I saw some of the scenes, it caught my attention.
I'll be looking forward to seeing it.
5alfanooh 20-12-06, 02:45 PM I saw it on the 24th november... to be honest.. the ads for this movie were bigger than its size.. we all thought its gonna be the bomb! it didnt reach the level of our expectations.. and the clips in youtube are much better than the movie it self..
Rossonero 20-12-06, 03:37 PM By far the worst movie i have ever watched in my life
eL3yo0oN 20-12-06, 04:15 PM I heard it's banned in the middle east. I want to watch it!
NiGhTFaCe 20-12-06, 05:00 PM I watched the trailer, it was too random for me. So I don't think I will watch it.
I went and saw this mm about two or a month and a half ago. There are some funny parts, parts where I could not stop laughing, but at the same time there are terribly offensive scenes. Borat does not hold back for anyone; he insults every ethnicity, religion and culture there is. I don't think a lot of you will be too impressed with the scenes insulting muslims.
Its not a movie per se, most of the scenes are shot as a documentary so they are real. His manager (the guy who travells with him), Pamela Anderson and the prostitute are the only actors I believe.
The movie has sparked a furry of opinions and discussions. I went to one done by fellow students from Kazakstan who were upset with his portrayal of their country. I also brought it up in a discussion group of my own; people seem to either hate it for all its offensivness or think its the funniest thing they've seen since forever. Personally I'm in between, though leaning toward disliking it.
If you're soft hearted and can't take a tease or more, don't watch it.
well, i saw the trailer it looks funny..
but i don't think i'll watch it
It's not silly comedy, it's biting satire.
It makes you laugh and makes you squirm uncomfortably when you see the prejudice hidden in people.
Borat acts as a rabid anti semite and uses this to expose anti semitism.
Even though Sasha Cohen who plays Borat is a observant Jew.
An excellent film, worth seeing more than once.
Shinoda LP 20-12-06, 07:43 PM ^ totally agree.
Rating: A+
Go to Youtube and type in Borat. There are lots of older things he did there and you can see if you think he's funny.
I think he can be very funny sometimes, but not as funny as Ali G. It's the same guy, you know, Sasha Cohen. Did you know he was a great soccer player?
Anyway, I recommend listening to some of Ali G's Youtube shows. He can be chokingly hilarious, like when he tries to set up a mutual theft with an FBI bureaucrat. The one with the farm veterinarian is also hilarious...he can't keep the difference between "veterinarian" and "veteran" in his head.

So true!
I am Borat's number one fan, but I haven't found the opportunity to go see the movie yet.. too many other things going on atm..
The humour is only for those who can't get offended with anything. For people who can laugh at themselves and not just at others..
It is completely hilarious to see how Baren-cohen manages to peel the top layer off the people he "interviews", revealing the cold hard truth of ignorance, racism and anti semitism around us.
The way he manages to fool people into believing he is genuine, is so funny!
High five! ROFL

yes, true. But they're not meant to be taken at face value. If you can't see the humour and irony behind them, you could be just like one of his "victims" that feature in his film.
Take the clip above.. he has his own "language" (which is ofcourse making fun of wannabe gangstas) and his term for women is "b1tches". Which is completely sexist. lol
So, the latino guy says "These women belong to me.."
Ali G says, "Belong?! That's a very sexist way to talk about these b1tches.."
HAHAHAHA! Can you see it?
In reality, Sacha Baron-cohen is nothing like his characters. He's a very intelligent person, and imo, he's re-invented satire.
In two words, he's a satirical genius.
I take it you haven't met "Bruno" yet. :D Bruno is a homosexual character which is making fun of homosexuals AND the people who are against them.
The minute a person loses the ability to laugh at himself is the moment his life becomes very very boring, monotonous and dull.
