This seems very interesting, looking at the 1st pictures, it gives this impression of huge visual work. Its based on one of Frank Miller's graphic novels, I hope it will turn great as his "Sin City".

The Graphics, colours, and visuals in the trailer are AMAZING! The only thing left for them to do is make good dialouge and a good story ( I didn't read the novel so i don't know). I'll definitely go watch it. Hope it won't be a dissapointment.

In the ancient Battle of Thermopylae, King Leonidas and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy.

Set in the Battle of Thermopylae, it is amazing that Leonidas and his men were able to hold off the Persians. And they only numbered around 5,000 or so (300 Spartans plus some allies, though many of the allies would later be sent back by Leonidas) against something around 300,000-1,000,000. BTW, Iran thought it depicted Persians in a bad way as it supposedly showed them to be bloodthirsty. I wonder how they came to that conclusion when if one would watch the movie, it's the Spartans who actually love combat.

I saw 300 (http://300themovie.warnerbros.com/) last Saturday. We were three, the rating was excellent, good and mine was not so good.
A little info on the movie: Its making cost M$ 150 and reaped M$175 just the last weekend. It was entirely filmed in a warehouse with no single frame taken outdoor. Its all about an ancient war between the Macedonian Spartans and the Persians who looked Africans in the film for a reason that I don’t know. There is no solid story similar to Troy, Alexander or Cleopatra, so it is all about blood and killing and the ocean of soldiers thanks to computer performing.

Before Genius posts here, let me leave my mark about this movie -

Move aside Gladiator, Troy, Alexander, Cleopatra and Ben Hur. The mother of all epics is here - 300. One word from me to end it "WOW"!

I watched it last night. I'm not a fan of historic epic movies, but I was impressed. However it doesn't get the 10, I give it a 9.5. On a deep profound level (which I created) the story doesn't completely add up.

They had to shape their bodies like that, because that is how Ancient Greece viewed how a man's body should be!
Well ... All over the movie, there were signs that indicate that Spartans were man-killing machines, which is why there was a lot of 'dryness' towards women and affection. When the battle started there was a faint hint of brotherly love between the soldiers. Not to forget the crying and mourning scene from the father who lost his son.

Also, all over the movie the huge sense of pride from the Spartans. Liyonidas' wife's sex scene came completely contradicting, she submitted with little or no struggle to the 'traitor' man. Also the that man's relationship with the royal family was very vague, and I couldn't pick up the reason why he wandered freely in the palace's chambers (if there was one).

There was no scene in the movie to show how large the city was. One would think that isn't necessary, but in the last scene, when the "HUGE" army did eventually come, the first thing that came into my mind was 'Wow, where did they come from ?' because there was not indication of the fact that there could have been that many people in Sparta.

This might sound silly, but I think that a movie like this should have held a humanly emotion. Happiness, Sadness, Gratitude, Tragedy .. Something like that. The only thing I felt after the movie was the urge to move in slow motion and kill someone.
Yes, it is silly, but I have an eye for this kind of thing in movies.

But the spartan who was talking said that they brought that army from Sparta and Greece

The visual work, shooting technique, scenes creation & music were all great. But, I have something about the story & something about the dialog, these weren't to the level.

Frank Miller's touches were obvious here. 4.7/5.

Just watched and it is amazing unbelievable work. As everybody said it was a piece or art

I do agree that the story was kinda of weak but I think it was cause they only was concern about the battle and how it was not about the whole story and all it's details.

As over all I give it 9.8/10

Damn skippy. Me and Deezel just watched this movie a couple of days ago... It was amazing.. no words can describe that movie.. What killed it for me though was the audience.. They were a pain in the ***.. there were even little kids at the front row and as soon as the break starts the kids would run around playing.. Then you have the "clap"... everytime something happens, people start to clap.. seriously wtf is this.. Are they the same people who go on air planes and clap as soon as they land????

but audience aside, the movie was beautiful, spectacular and overall awesome.. It made me feel like wanting to kill the audience in such a kickass way..

10/10

Not a shock really, most of the scenes if not all were inside studios.

Some great movies can be done in short period of time, I think "Saw" took one week only if I am not mistaking.

the lines (dialog) , music , custom were excellent and the duration wasnt very long to get you bored cause the story is weak and this is a good factor

BliNd_MelOn
14-04-07, 12:57 AM
Erm..Why do you all think the story was weak?! The ending was perfect and only logical or else it wouldve been too godly, if you know what i mean!
The story is simply NOT the war itself that went on with the 10,000 spartans at the end, but like the intro to that with the 300 soldiers.. thats why it was short and simple.. and I liked it ..and I watched 3 times till now..and I think King Leonidas is friggin HAWT! ooh baby.. lol

$w€€ŧ¥
14-04-07, 01:59 AM
yeah it is logical and i think it would have been an indien movie if they won :D
but then there is nothing, the story is just "simple" i guesss is a better word than "Weak" ...just a regular story...not like the ending of "troy" or "Gladiator" those had amazing endings and the story was heavy compared to this if you know what i mean ;)

now this got me really interesting on the real history story that happened...who won?? and how did it all start?? and were the spartans really like what they were in the movie??
