Howdy folks! Lately I've been thinking whether or not to buy an xbox 360. I'm definetly buying the wii although I have been thinking i'll be using it mostly as a casual gaming experience while the 360 for the more serious one... of course the wii will be getting plenty of love. I'm seeing no difference between the ps3 and the 360 other than the price and the graphics look similar and sometimes perhaps even better. I've been always telling myself i'm willing ot buy an xbox 360 just as long as they bring the good games out.. but i've been saying that for more than year now and I'm starting to doubt how good it is. I was a bit excited for gears of war but beneath all the nice graphics, I'm seeing it as a duck and shoot game..
I'm also wondering about the issues of hardware such as overheating, the screen of death, fans and lag if any.. And is it worth it buying the premium package or just the core one?
anywhoo.. convince me folks!

Don't buy it. You seem high maintenance when it comes to gaming consoles. :D
Okay. You're probably right about the graphics part of PS3 and xbox 360, but I couldn't possibly guarantee it because I haven't played any game on the PS3 yet. Going by my friends' accounts, xbox 360 graphics are better. Prices are steep and I don't know if you want to wait till it drops a little lower or not. Premium vs. core system, you probably need some kind of memory to play any game on the xbox console, so if you already have any kind of memory storage in mind, then cool... otherwise I'd suggest going with the premium option. Plus, since you seem like a pretty hardcore gamer, you'd want to check out the online gameplay scenario. So, a wireless controller + 20Gb HDD + headset/mic + a few free hours gameplay on xbox live = premium system, isn't a bad choice for someone like you.
I heard rumors a while back about xbox possibly thinking about a 100Gb HDD option, but I don't know where that stands really.
And like you said, Wii is a good gaming console, but I'd think of Wii as a 'fun' gaming console to be played with a bunch of friends who'd erupt in laughter while you moved funny to get things happening in the game and Xbox as a more engaging console with serious gamers.
Gears of war... duck and shoot or not, I'm buying it! :p I'll tell you how it is in a couple months...

lol couple of months is too long :p
but anyways i wonder about the xbox live system.. can i use a credit card to upgrade to gold subscription or atleast keep it running... obviously there exists no xbox here and i doubt they'd keep anything to support xbox live
also is it worth it buying that camera thing? I'm not sure if it actually is..
and the problem with both the 360 and ps3 is that well.. you need an hd experience to actually enjoy the graphical power of the game.. as in you need an HDTV.. otherwise the graphics will come off as "okay" when played on a standard tv.. these tv's are quite expensive here and so far im still trying to figure out whether i will need one or not other than gaming (Im not intending to buy HDDVD or blu ray, there aren't any HD channels to play on here and we still use VHS mostly than dvd's)
The best thing about the wii is that it does cater to everyone rather than just one audience... it certainly does have its fair share of seriousness when it comes to its triumphant trio of mario, zelda and metroid.. of course more will come along the way..
but so far im actually afraid of buying it because of overheating and such.. are those external fan coolers even worth buying?
well since you want to be convinced then let me show you the differences between the two xbox360 and ps3 but you have to read the article carefuly so you won't get lost in each comparing.......

hmmmm so i see.. the weird thing is in some games the ps3 is good in lighting and shadow while in others its only good in sharper textures..
what about technical difficulties? do they happen often with the 360? I'm deeply worried about power consumption and overheating.

I have a laptop, a desktop, bose 7.1 surround speakers, a HDTV and my xbox in a university style single room. No cooling device bought yet, but I haven't noticed any overheating issues yet... the longest I've kept all systems on simultaneously was 30 hours around maybe? (Was on-call so work laptop was on, needed to check stuff online so desktop was online and then me and 2 of my roommates were killing FIFA =D)
I checked online a bit for cooling options for xbox 360 and came about a plug-on cooling fan that attached to the back of the xbox. Works good all reviewers said, but makes a lot of noise... I can't deal with a lot of noise.

I won't convince you... lol... wii all the way...
I found xbox pretty efficient with its games and the console itself is powerful.... but no... it is sooo not my piece of cake
If you are a fan of first shooter games, then buy it.

Are you kidding me?
Just take one look at motorstorm(which I played in person) and GTHD and you would know that the ps3 is leaps and bounds beyond Xbox360 and this is just the start and at the beggining of PS3 life.
