I was told by the tour guides that jabal shams has the 2nd heighest slop in the middle east (steepest). I couldnt get the information in the net. may be someone could have some more information.

I got these pictures in a forwarded email. I guess its not the 1st time to have snow in Jabel Shams. But, looking at these pictures gives such cool feeling!

Thanks Enegma. Just for clarification I didnt take the photoes (though am good at it:color: ), I got the pix through an email from my cousin , So I have NO IDEA who took the pix. I just posted them soon after I read the email just to share ,I thought they were amazing. I am planning to post some pix of snow in the next month from where I am now..when it gets to -40 :hbd: . For now just enjoy whatever in oman.:mushroom:

It's very beautiful indeed...

But, to my American eye, it looks like sleet, not snow.

Snow is flakes, soft and with crystalline shape.

Sleet is frozen rain. It rains and then it freezes while it is falling and you get little balls of ice.

Usually, when it sleets, it doesn't all melt. That's called "freezing rain". So the sleet falls, but also some watery rain with it. Then the rain freezes when it hits the window of your car and makes a film of ice. See how the car windows look?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's sleet and freezing rain.

Still beautiful, though, but much worse to drive and walk in than snow. Wallahi, it's bad to walk in sleet and freezing rain! Every two steps and you fall down!

I got this a fwd from a colleague ... its just lovely .. ive been visitng oman all these years and i never got to visit Jabal Shams... hopefully would do that in the future i should ask my lovely cousins to take me there ;)

Jabal shams is open to the public , except a small area where the military camp is located. I been there & seen the place (in the fall not winter).

i thought it wasnt oman...but apparantly Dodikita's parents are from there and she is confirming

Indeed Oman is a beautiful country and it only needs to be discovered by its own people.

Allah [swt] had given this coutnry a beauty that is not matched any where else on this earth.

But then again the Omani people always keep in their mind that the country still lacks something and they try to search for it in other coutnries.

Inshallah one day i am hoping to make a trip in that side of Oman and many other places. :yes:

those are some nice pictures... at east ur able to walk through the snow.. once here in canada the snow was sooo deep it was up to my knees, it was like excercising.. dragging ur feet in the snow lool pretty funny

wellcome to sabla. I really dont know much about accomodatins, but in jabal shams there are affordable cottages-like.will Pm you with some numbers.
