ok i have a problem
i cant stand biology, we are learning about the heart and the circulatory system, kidney...etc
and i cant concentrate at all, those topics disgust the hell out of me, i feel sick to my stomach, i shiver and all i want to do is get out of the classroom..

i dont know why should i be puten up with this?
i hate biology for this, and im afraid im going to fail.

we opened a chickens heart 2day and i was this close from throwing up, i couldnt look at it.. so i just sat in the class's corner doing nothing..

i cant be excused during every digestion
what should i do? please help if you can..

Well ,, I was like you,so I went forward and asked my teacher to help me on , she gave me more attentions and tried to wooing this subject to me.

Ane when it comes to necropsy classes , she avoided this part,only gave me small parts and so on :D ,,

Try to study it with someone like this subject so she can help you and encourage more :)

are you kidding me? Bio was my best subject ever :p

but I understand that biology is not everyone's cup of tea .. well the way I used to enjoy it is that learning it means I would know more about myself .. I will learn how my heart works, how I got my genes and so on .. try to personalise it maybe you will get to like it more.

get a certificate from your doctor saying you're weak hearted and cannot follow chicken and frogs but only theory :cute:

^^ i didnt know there was such a thing (getting a letter from the doctor) man! I couldve done that instead of skippin class and sitting behind hte sports store room eating chips :D which is lots of fun btw Special...so try that :D or ...if theres a cute guy in your class, pay more attention to him than the chickens heart!

Special! Omg! That's nothing compared to me last year! :shy: I almost fainted once, and I actually vomitted! But I passed! It's only a unit (hopefully..otherwise you're in trouble! lol!).. But just tell the teacher you can't handle it, and you'll sit in class and cover your nose to avoid the smell, and record data if you had to! :cute: That's what I did! Or you can sit and do homework until everyone finishes.. (Did that too..) And just pay really good attention after the dissection, in a class discussion! :cute:

actually i used to enjoy it...lol..i jst hated the smell....-oh, the days!!-

personally i loved biology until they started mixing it with chemistry (which i hate.. i still can't even make a proper tea without being lucky for craps sake!) but anyways if i were you, I'd concentrate more on whats being written on the book and notes rather than looking at organs... If yur getting grades for opening up animals, well tough luck really =\ .. I think you should complain to a headmaster or something telling them that yur easily nauseated and you have every right to be exempted from such experiments. Instead you can tell them you could do extra written work about functions of organs and such rather than cutting them open..

Anyway it's only one chapter about "human biology" the rest is about plants and the ecosystem which sucks, but u might like it cuz the experiment's arn't disgusting :p

Nothing is worse than the bones experiment we do in high school...you boil up the bones and the smell...omg.....i had to go home at lunchtime to have a shower and change my clothes......

when i dread sumthing and don't want to do sumthing, i think in my mind....that in X number of hours i will never have to do this again, and at time + X hours im gonna this or do that.......concentrate on what you will do after the dreaded subject.

Think of things that some people have to do which is worse than what you are doing, like body post mortems........surgery ewwwww.........

but if you are weak hearted, then dont think of the above....you dont wanna make a fool of yourself infront of that cute guy [like tiara said] ;)

the problem is, its not just opening animals organs that turn my stomach, i get disgusted when the teacher even talks about it, i dont know maybe i imagine alot... but when my teacher goes like "blood is a sticky liquid..etc" that makes me sick..

put this failing thing in ur mind always, especially when u get disgusted, think that you gonna fail. This might change things abit ! " i hope "

I hated Bio, so I never bothered with it, revised and went to sit my exams for a pass mark, this works ;)

OMG! I wonder why .. that was my BEST part of biology !! I loved it !! I really enjoed that part from the bottom of my heart ! & i had easily memorized it & i do remember it ! :D
well it depends on you gurl ! you can change that by chalanging your self ;) .. but sticking this failing idea into your mind wont help it ,, it would make it worse :)

(Or even last time we dissected a rat which was so cool).. but mostly its an organ.. so you have he organ and you take the blade and you start butchering the meat apart (Omg i just remembered we dissected an eye once. Its so funny cutting an eye that's staring right back at you).. anyway so your butchering the organ apart and then your supposed to draw it, yeah right, you butcher some more, time is running out, you need to draw. Nope, butcher some more. Its Great fun!
Lol anyway im getting carried away and i don't think i'm helping you so i'll shut up now. :)

^ I guess tha explains why i want to become a surgeon :D But don't say you'll fail just try your best and inshallah kheir. Try making it fun like umm try studying with your friends, or draw colourful diagrams (if you like doing that). Good luck!:cute:

i think that is the best thing to do.. (after all, teachers want whts best for us :XD: ) i think its the best solution! and anyway, biology is full of stuff u need to memorise, so maybe you can just memorise without imagening?? (but that might be a bit hard!)

What are you majoring ? if dealing with these stuff will be a part of your future then you have to manage getting over it or just change your major.

Some people have this phobia and there is no easy cure for it.Why dont you try to cook more ? i mean help your mother in the kitchen and you will get used to the idea in that way.

Been there! Don't fe afraid of failure, just do your best. Trust me, I was so afraid of failing bio which led me to getting a C. I would've gotten a much better grade if I had just stopped worrying about it so much.

oh cooool u dissected an eye!! i just dissected a heart, a lung and a rat.. it was really interesting getting to see all of the internal organs of the rat and all the chambers of the heart and the tubes leadin to the alveoli's in the lungs!! the drawing part was the best :p

special.. i can imagine how hard it'll be for u especially if u get so touchy about the blood and stuff.. u can try to ask the teacher to be excused from the class when there's dissection going on and instead u can revise by yourself or with the help of someone the notes on this topic.. when u get to the blood try to imagine it as a watery liquid and not a "sticky" one, tht might make it easier for u..
wish everything goes well with u.. bio is really interesting if u try to get the point after it u know :p

I used to love bio for one chapter only, but hated it when they told us we cant have any practica/experiment on this chapter

If you're in grade 12, I guess you had the chance to drop Biology last year when you were in grade 11... So if you hate it, why didn't you drop it?

I'm in grade 12 now. I hate biology so much and I'm not interested at all in becoming a doctor, so I dropped bio last year and took Elective English instead of it. I wonder why didn't you do the same.

ohhh dear remember one thing if u hate something then u cant go forward. about your problem take every thing easy. read and see pic what is writen then it will be easy 4 u and u love this book and another thing in this live there is nothing is call difficult or complex if u think negative then it will be same if u think positive it will be again same.
