Few days ago for no apparent reason I couldn't sign in to messenger. Though I can normally access to my email account. So no the email wasn't hacked. And no messenger was working fine, since I can sign-in to another account without a problem. So what was the trick ? Few weeks ago, someone had a similar problem, but it went away after few days. Is anyone facing any sign-in problems lately?

After some googling, I found a solution.

All there has to be done is delete the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\ Policies

Source (http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=1515)

Notice: Do not attempt this if you do not have an problems. Only do so when the you are not able to sign-in with 1 account, while you cant with another.

I haven't faced any problems whatsoever. Didn't have to change any registry entries either. Sure its not an ISP related issue, DD?

No one should delete this key if they aren't facing the same problem!

Navigator: The steps are:

1- click Start
2- click on Run
3- Type Regedit
4- browse as the folder structure of the following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger\ Policies
5- right-click on the folder Policies and delete
6-close regedit.

P.s - It would be better if messenger wasn't running in your systray.

Shinoda LP: I am not sure how messenger users get the problem. But as I mention I know someone who got the same problem few weeks ago and now I had it. And the guy in the source faced the same problem. It's not a virus, it appears more like a bug. And it can't be the ISP, since I can open any other account with no problems.

Professor: Does hotmail has a policy against multiple accounts??

I know the reason for this problem, it is Sun Java, remove it and install Microsoft Java, then everything will be fine (Inshallah)!

Haroundb: I didn't have Sun Java or any Java installed on my PC when I had the problem. So, perhaps the problem that is solved by your suggestion is for a another or a similiar issue.

This was the reason I found for MSN Life! not logging and that was the fix.

Haroundb:Then we have now two possible solutions, inshallah -In Allah's Will- at least one of them will be helpful.
