I know I don't watch or talk about football much... but there's something I want to know...

in the world cup... why is it only saudi arabia taking part and no other country from the gulf?

TripleTee, all the national teams in Asia went into a qualification stage. Saudi Arabia is the only national team from the GCC Countires that qualified to the World Cup 2006.

Just to add that, Kuwait qualified to World Cup 1982.
UAE qualified to World Cup 1990.
KSA has been there since 1994.

how often do they go through this qualification stage? or when was the last time they did it anyway?... cuz even though I might be wrong and I mean no offense... but sometimes I feel other national teams are better players...
perhaps looks are deceiving... but teams improve... perhaps they should do the testing stage again... I've never heard of saudi going far in the world cup just yet.... oh well

The World Cup is taking place every 4 years, so for the qualification. We might see it unfair. But, its not easy to qualify to the World Cup. Saudi Arabia is high rated team in Asia, comparing them to us, we are still far to reach them. Of course talking about their achievements in the area.

None of the Asian teams made a big success in the World Cup, maybe except for South Korea who reached the 4th place in 2002.

Yeah it was. But, we cant change the fact. Thats why Asia is still far from Europe & South America who been holding all the titles.

well , letz just hope Asia gonna do better in 2010, coz last wc was such a big disappointment, despite the good performance by the Koreanz , but eyt they didnt to the knock out round !

I would suggest take a few good players from each gulf team and call it the GCC team... that way we might stand a chance...

US?! You cant put the U.S next to the best European national teams. Europe is compared to South America.
