A question was raised about my avatar: is the crescent moon connected to Islam?
Anyway, I thought my answer and my link might interest people who like visual arts, so here it is. I'd love to know what you artists think about Samuel Palmer...I love him. So be sure to look at the Google Images for him:
For anyone who is interested, my avatar is by an English artist named Samuel Palmer. He was a strong Christian and a disciple of the English poet and artist, William Blake. This particular painting is called "Cornfield by Moonlight". It features a crescent moon, among many other things, but one that lacks the typically Islamic star in combination with the crescent.
Of course, I chose it because I have loved Samuel Palmer's magical paintings for many years. I particularly fixed on the one with the Moon, because my friend Arabian Princess had just had a touching post on her blog about missing a friend, who she represented in her post as the Moon. Her post also had nothing to do with Islam.
I thought my reasons might actually interest some real people! Please go look at Google Images and type in "Samuel Palmer". He's not too well known, but you will find some of the most gorgeous paintings you have ever seen in your life!

In any case, I am lucky that a Sabla artist has agreed to design me a combo and eventually I will have it and put it up. This artist wants to take the time to find just the right ideas for me. So, I'm happy to wait weeks or months or whatever it takes. But one day, I hope I will have something new and beautiful made just for me. Then Samuel Palmer and his crescent moon will disappear.
NOTE: Please don't offer me an avatar! It hurts me to say, "No," to people who are talented and want to be nice to me. But I have to say "No" because I'm waiting for the one I will get in the future and and I want to wait.
