Just a hypothetical and maybe humerous question:

1- What if someone takes really excessive amounts of calcium for a pronologed period of time.

What are the results of this escessive calcium intake if any?

2- And what are the sources of rich calcium other than dairy products.

Thanks :)

I am not a doctor but I was into fitness and stuff. I know read in some megazine that if men eat excessive culcium that could lead to serious consequences. And if I amnot wrong, it affects the secual capabilities to be particular.

However, sufficient vitamin D balances things out.

Again, I am not a specialist so lets wait for a doctor :p

Thanks.
What about women?

And How does Vitamin D helps the calcium? I mean does Vitamin D becomes calcium, or does it assit it or something like that?

Any input is sppreciated.

Thanks

I don't know where the doctors are! I hope I am not giving out wrong infomration.

I am not sure if Calcium negatively affects women as well. I read those articles in body building megazines ;)

Basically, Vitamin D, according to what I know, helps digest the calcium in men.

That is it for me. I will ask HITMAN to help u out here.

:p

An important overview:

Calcium is an extremely important component in the human body not only because it is essential in forming bone & teeth only, but without Calcium ions the muscles won't function properly nor will the nerves or the blood clotting system

There are 2 pairs of glands present in humans known as the Parathyroid Glands, they are located close to the Thyroid Gland, they regulate the metabolism of Calcium in the body by secreting the Parathyroid Hormones. Also to mention Calcitonin in maintainging Calcium regulation which secreted by the Thyroid

Besides the above mentioned hormones, the presence of Vitamin D is also essential in the absorbtion of Calcium , the kidenys play an essential role & so do the small intestines & bones

1- Taking into account a normal individual without any hornomal disorder or kideny disorder, the Calcium levels should be normally maintained.

Actually there have been mized recations about high consumption of calcium in prevention of osteoporosis, also high calcium has been linked to development of Prostate cancer

2- Fish is rich in Calcium, you can also add Soya to that list along with Dairies.

Cod Liver Oil is a very good supplement

So finally, with abnormality of Calcium regulation, the person will develop bone abnormalities, blood pressure related disorder, kideny stones & psychological disorders

PS---> FaHaD is the best when it comes to biochemistry, I hope he participates here

I will see what I can add later on
