View Full Version : Eating By Your Hand
Now every smart ***** will say...what should we eat by our foot..:bored:
Do you eat using spoon or drictly by your hand??? :hyper:
It is a big issue for my western friends and mates here, even some arab friends (the labanese guy...;) ). I even get in a bet whether i can eat some food like rice by bare hands..which was an easy bet for me to win...:hyper:
toxic_honey 10-10-06, 04:46 AM well i eat by using spoon or fork

Rossonero 10-10-06, 05:26 AM When rice, nothing but the hands, but when its rice and curry..mostly its spoon and fork for me.
Her XLNC 10-10-06, 05:36 AM Fork and knife...in almost everything!
Rossonero 10-10-06, 05:52 AM I cant stand fork and knife when it comes to rice...would rather have spoon and fork
Her XLNC 10-10-06, 05:55 AM ^im totally the opposite....even in the resturents i ask for fork and knife..when they only put fork and spoon....
ToomuchaT 10-10-06, 06:13 AM .. the sayin says: قابل جيش و لا تقابل عيش or face an army rather that facing a rice meal lol
.. if to face an army u need to be well weapon-ed.. then to face rice u need something very effective i.e Hands.
.. i always use my hands wherever i go.. unless the rice is little n can be gone in one hand lol.
Fdaitny 10-10-06, 07:42 AM Spoon and fork!!
I tried eating with my hands, but by the time I put the rice in my mouth, there's almost nothing! :os I guess I don't know how to do it..
MorphaKnight 10-10-06, 07:51 AM I only use my hands for certain foods.. mostly fast food and such. but most of the time i use forks and knives. And yes I prefer eating rice with a spoon rather than a fork. It'd be even worse with chopsticks 0_o I always considered that eating with your fork and knife is a way of table manners to show respect among those whom you're eating with. There are even these little gestures known in restaurants where if you'd put the fork and knife on top of each other at a certain angle, its a way of telling the cooks in the kitchen that the food was great. I'm not too sure about that gesture but I've seen everyone do it.
Metal_Maniac 10-10-06, 10:23 AM Hands at home and a fork & knife outside. I'm not sure if a spoon or fork works well with Indian food especially north Indian bread and rice. (even arabic bread & hommus) How many of you use a fork to eat KFC? Ain't nothing wrong with using your hands but it also depends on who you are with and where you dine.
solitude 10-10-06, 11:26 AM I mostly use my hand, but when I really have to, I use spoon and just that... no fork. I use knife sometimes when I am eating fish or prawns.
hands rules :p
well,depends..but have anyone noticed how delicious it tastes when eating with your hands? ;)
i guess when it's curry or something like that things might get messy..handwise :mmhmm:
eat however you want using whatever you want as long as you don't mess the place or disgust others ;)
Jihad4Truth 10-10-06, 01:26 PM Yeah there is nothing wrong with eating with your hands, as long as they are clean. Some foods like bread or fruit it is not messy and it is ridiculous to use anything but your hand.
I do eat rice with a fork, spoon or chopsticks. But the rice is always a base for some dish or sushi.
I eat ribs and shrimp with my hands and that gets real messy.
I think what trips western people out about seeing rice eaten with hands is the finger-scoop motion. It makes them think one is sticking their fingers in their mouth like a fork or spoon.
well,depends..but have anyone noticed how delicious it tastes when eating with your hands? ;)
Yeah, i know what u mean....:D
I tried the two ways...and i agree with u...

I mostly use my hands. In other words, I use tools with food that I can't eat with me hands.
The only times I use my hand is when eating a sandwich, bread or anything that couldn't be eaten with a fork and knife. I only use spoons for soup.
nezitiC 10-10-06, 02:30 PM I mostly use my hands. In other words, I use tools with food that I can't eat with me hands.
What tools are you refering here to?
sounds suspicious.
tiarathrones 10-10-06, 02:35 PM islamic eating manners goes by the way of the prophet....so at home , we usually eat with our hands (our right hands that is haha)...
but when i'm out ...i prefer the fork. I hate the spoon...so uncomfortable shoving a hollow thing in your mouth!...with the fork you just open, slide it in and slide it out ...so cute... :) lol

I am referring to spoons, forks and knifes. Not shovels, screw drivers or drill machines :p

Abdullah II 10-10-06, 03:20 PM it is something that you have to learn, especially for men in our culture.
you can't be in a wedding or 3azza and when they get the food, the big plates of rice and meat and you sit there around all the people and ask for a fork and knife.
they will be like ,, whose this sissy .
and there is a right way to eat with your hand. and its sunna to use 3 fingers.

Black Lolly 10-10-06, 03:36 PM i use my hands for fast food, and frok and knife for rice or anything like meat and chicken.
