Just realised that the thread i started in sport Sabla ,, about our match vs UAE is locked by the so called Nightface !

the reason he gave , coz itz part of the Asian qualification thread !
thatz true , but i guess this is a v important match for us (omaniz) n deserved to be discussed in a seperate thread !

i dont like ur attitude dude , coz u ve done this with ** messi's convertin' to Islam ** thread n ur reason was,, it hsould have a solid link,, n for god sake u can never have a solid link confirmin' or denyin' Messi's convertin' to Islam ,, n the girl posted directly the pic from the newspaper !

I think my reason was clear, we have a thread for the whole qualification matches, & the match is a part of it as I said before. I dont see the reason why people should open a new thread for the match where we already can discuss it in the thread we opened specificly for the qualification?!

I dont think I stopped anyone from discussing about the match in the thread we started earlier.

I dont know what it has to do with my attitude, when I work more on organizing the forums I am monitoring!

You already noticed we have different threads for the leagues we cover every season, for our thread here it works under the same system. We always try to have specific threads for all these sport events/competitions.

If you are pointing to this match of our national team to be that important, so I believe every match of the team is important.

I personally HATE threads that include everything in it..I very much prefer when a thread is started for each specific event...but that section is under Nightface's control...so it's his call in the end.

fanatics will always find something to say..it's not like that single thread is filled with posts from people who don't care about sports.

Imagine if all the new album threads were posted in a single one , or all my artwork posted in one single thread instead of a dedicated thread for each piece.. those sections would have eventually died or got boring.

New threads, new titles..bring in alot more attention than the same old thread being revived over and over again.

1- UAE defeated us in the away match !
2- we need to win this match to qualifiy
3- itz more like a derby when Oman n UAE play !

Yes I know that..but I personally would have done things a little different. I would have made a specific thread for each match to give the members a chance to comment on it and only it without drifting to other matches.

Same goes to what happened to the world cup..including it all in one single thread didn't appeal to me. It would have been alot better to comment professionally on each and single match in single and seperated threads..and that would have surely boosted your section.

Anyways..that's just how I see it should be..but I trust your judgement as well since it's your section in the end.

Navigator, who follow Oman matches would simply know that by looking at the thread title.

Again, how important the match can be doesnt qualify it to have a seprate thread since as I repeate again & again its already covered by another thread.

Why I would ask the members to stop their chit chat on a thread that wasnt supposed to be there at the 1st place.


NaBHaN, that can work for you. But, we try to have a coverage for the event in one single thread. To me it makes it easy for the member to follow, plus its easy to maintain.

Navigator, maybe you should read the content of these threads, so you can know why these are different.

i have a quick read throuhg them , but that dosen't relief them from ben' under the same topic !

like for example how brazil lost could be in the fifa wc germany 2006 ,,

one topic contains all that 8 threads,, fifa world cup germany 2--6,, n anythin related to world cup can be included there !

The problem is that many moderators simply feel they own the section they moderate in Sabla. I understand many are too busy but that doesn't mean the moderator has the right to treat members this way.

I think the Moderating team should specify some clear steps that all moderators must follow before locking/deleting any thread.

Of course, the same can be done with posts as well. I stopped posting in Sabla because some moderator/admin always deleted/edited my posts without even informing me.

There were times that I went back to my post weeks laters wondering about why no body responded and it is then I realised that my thread was either deleted or edited.

I think members should be treated better than this.

I think it would have been much better if Nightface, who I think is a great mod, and Navigator had discussed the issue through PM instead of this.

Personally, I prefere what Nightface did. Having a single thread is much better but the members should be made aware and if someone still wants to open another thread dedicated to Oman, then it should be discussed through PMs.

this is a national event.. Oman X Uae.. everyone is talkin about it and That thread should be unlocked for the size of the event.. and there it should include all the discussions related to that event... the Asian qualification thread is for the Overall competition... so I really wish that the thread will be unlocked so we can talk there about the game and have critiques after the game etc..

Someone is being arragont here, I do believe that the thread should be unlocked. Apart from all the matches, ours do deserve a thread to occupy the whole event in depth.

Well if the moderating teams cares even a little bit about what normal members feel they will surely unlock the thread.

There were some misunderstandings and I think its clear how mos members feel about Oman vs. UAE matches.

u know the prob is that Mr Moderator is painfully unaware of the importnace of this match , n what it means for us !

Alright..the best solution for this issue was to merge the discussion parts of your thread to the already existing 'Asian Qualifications' thread , which is where it originally belongs, and the rest of it was moved to the local sabla as a local event announcement.

I think that's fair enough on everyone and I consider this issue closed now. I'll leave this open though in case anyone has any comments to add.
