I am sure that everyone admits the health hazards of this bad & dangerous passtime which has overwhelmed the cafes around the country

Unfortunately, many believe that smoking hookah (sheesha) is less dangerous than smoking the ordinary cigarette or cigar

Call it hookah, call it shisha, call it a water pipe, call it whatever you want, but just don't call it safe. A report released by the World Health Organization (WHO) a few months ago asserted the health truths about hookah: It is as dangerous as straight tobacco.

The WHO has this to say about hookah: "Using a water pipe is not a safe alternative to cigarette smoking. A typical one-hour water pipe smoking session involves inhaling 100 to 200 times the volume of smoke inhaled with a single cigarette. Even after it has been passed through water, the smoke produced by a water pipe contains high levels of toxic components, including carbon monoxide, heavy metals, and cancer-causing chemicals."

I feel nausated when I smell shisha .. maybe coz I hate the idea iteself

im very against any form of smoking (apart from weed... would like 2 try some of tht once :color:). & yeah i always knew tht doing sheesha was alot worse thn smoking. i am very "anti-smoking" :mmhmm:

Yeah, there aren't! But, there's like this poster which has a sheesha's pic. in it and another guy smoking a cig. with the warning of smoking tobaccos and so. I haven't seen anything else when it comes to sheeshas, etc.

I have tried it but, I don't smoke (quit the trials), not a smoker, never was and never will be =/

errr well, I've tried it a couple of times but it never really stuck. Not that I wanted it to or anything, but you know I'd be sitting at night with some family or friends, the sheesha is being passed around, it comes to me... why not? After a while though I still couldn't see what was so great about it so I was like ok if it's not good for me and I don't even like it then what the hell am I doing/!!

There should be another option that says "Tried it, but don't care for it" or something :D

I have tried it to know what the whole fuss is about and I didn't really enjoy it. I am not a fan of any type of smoking and i only tried it because I wanted to experience it for my own and get convinced that it's not as great as some people make it out to be.

Answer: there is nothing great about it really :p. Somebody sat down with it 1000 years ago and looked cool smoking it, other people followed, and since then no one who's smoked it has really thought to say they don't really like it at all, but are just following the trend.

i didn't tried and never will insha allah.....as you said Hitman it more dangerous then the cigarette it self; remembering back in time a guy was smoking shesha when he finish he smokes cigarette then mdwa'7 ( pipe )....well he didn't got long with them cause he got water in his chest.....i always can't understand those who smoke and say we can't stop from them, then when ramadan comes they stop till the sundown.....!!!

The shisha was ban in Oman many times and finally they allowed it so I heard ..

Yesterday I saw many Omani ladies smoking it and they came in groups all dressed up with fine make-up and smoking shisha like Dragons ;) including men

I wouldn't mind trying it lol I mean one puff won't get me addicted hehe

I'm a sheesha lover, can't really live without it..! I smoke it once or twice a week, or whenever I find a chance, and I simply LOVE it..! :D

I'm a sports person, I used to smoke light cigs a long time ago, and they shortened down my stamina, whenever I used to run I used to get this pain in my lungs.. So I quit..

Now that I discovered sheesha, I don't find any of it's effects on my stamina, I can play bball for a long time even though I'm a regular sheesha costumer at kargeen :D

There are individuals who have been smoking from decades but never developed any serious illness of the lungs or the cardiovascular system

But not developing a disease does not just justify the use of it since the negative effects are very well established & proven

I hope they ban both smoking normal cigarettes/cigars & Hookah in public places

It is suicide..! But when will it kill you? In 30-40 years? Being a coke addict will kill a person much faster than that, and I don't really see anyone fighting about how haram it is or how a person hates all drinkers..! Weird eh? ;)
Eating from those metal cans is exactly the same case, it won't kill you today or tomorrow, but after 30 years of doing it you'll notice the liver and heart problems..

Solidus, we know you like sheesha so you don't necessarily need to get defensive about it, also there is no need to compare it to coke or KFC since it is well established that they are harmful too

But here we are trying to create more awareness about hookah only, you mentioned 30-40 years, but maybe the person won't be effected at all till he/she dies or maybe will develop a lung pathology within few years only, so it varies from one individual to another

I'm not really being all defensive.. But I just hate it when I see people judging each other on if this person smokes or not..! People usually jump out saying that they hate sheesha and who ever does it..! Only by reading that, I can judge how much this person is talking without thinking..

I would say for two main reasons. Firstly, coz I simply hated the idea of sitting idle in coffee shops just talking like women. I felt very unproductive. Secondly, cause I didn't like all the smoke!
