Ist good to wake up every few hours while sleeping?......
No, bcuz then you never reach all the stages of sleeping, which is important :)
Do we have to sleep the 8 hours continusly?.....
Well technically yes, however the amount of sleep each person needs differs from 1 person to another. Some people may be perfectly healthy with only 4-5 hours of sleep, others may need over 12 hours to get the full benefits of sleeping :)

Well from my limited knowledge all i can say is don't go to bed feeling overstuffed from having 2 much food, u'r more prone to getting nightmares that way. And try to make sure you sleep in a completely dark room, because even the slightest rays of light can interfere with your sleep & prevent you from reaching to the deepest level of sleep (the 1 where you're basically half dead :D ).

i read an article about foods that help cure insomnia but i forgot most of the stuff :os Drinking warm milk &/or eating cherries is supposed to help u fall asleep. Putting a few drops of lavender oil on the sheets help in relaxing the senses in preparation for sleep. Exercising &/or eating carbs just before sleeping makes it harder for you to fall asleep.
2 help u get to sleep faster u should refrain from performing any other activities in bed apart from sleeping (e.g. reading, watching tv, talking on the phone, etc..), bcuz then it makes it easier for your brain to switch to sleeping mode :)
fatamooo 12-09-06, 06:18 AM I started this bad habit which was sleeping on my stomach and I knew it wasn't good for my back and stuff so I started forcing myself to sleep straight on my back, and I got the deeeeeepest sleep I ever had it was WOW! I felt like I woke up from a coma or something I was completely oblivious to everything :p
Because when I slept on my stomach I kept fidgeting around to breathe easy and stuff but when I slept on my back I wouldn't fidget at all and breathe so easily and get alll the R&R I needed :D
The best thing is to have some one wake you up whenever you are snoring. Snoring pulls the linings of your nose up through your nasal cavities and into your inner ear. The jostling of the cavities in your ear causes you to hear little sounds, which causes your brain to create a nightmare...that makes your body twitch in an alarming and unhealthy manner.
So have someone by your side with a flyswatter when you sleep to give you a good, hard SmmmACKKKK! every time you start to snore. This will result in great good health for you and much pleasure for the person with the flyswatter too.
FaRaSHa interesting questions, waiting for the Sabla Doc's to reply
fatamoooI think there is a hadeeth about not sleeping on your stomach :os
FaRaSHa 12-09-06, 05:30 PM .......$w€€ŧ¥ : sanks :).......
..............Fatamoo: in Islam we are asked to sleep on our right side and and to have our right hand under our right cheek for some reasons i can not recall now.....
....It was proven scintifically what was mentioned over 14 hundred years by the prophet :PBUH: ...........
i think coz if u sleep on your left, then your whole body is pressuring on your heart and instad of sleeping and relaxing it will be pumping and working more...somethig like that not 100% sure

1- Obviously it isn't, that is a disturbed sleep & the cause of it must be sorted it
2- As the people grow older, they require lesser sleep, you can notice the old people sleep something like 4-5 hours and are quite satisfied with that amount, and the children sleep for very long hours, however, 8 is considered by most the ideal & sleeping for 8 hours without the sleep to be interrupted is the most ideal
3- There are many factors that can help the individual obtain a good night's sleep:
- Having a regular time for sleeping. Unfortunately this can't be applied to people who work in shifts & might work overnight
- Creating a good atmosphere, with a comfortable bed & good temperature of the room, without the TV being let on while sleeping & the lights left on
- Avoiding late night dinner & avoiding caffeine, cigarettes & even alcohol
- Well balanced diet & regular exercise
The above tips are usually helpful to get a good sleep when they are made a habit
On the contrary, to know that the sleep was not enough for you, you must look for some of the following:
- Inability to wake up easily unless the alarm keeps on ringing for minutes
- Feeling tired at work & school
- Doze off while perforimg duties or during a lecture or even driving (very dangerous)
- Dark circles & headaches
4- Natural solution to sleep is mentioned in the above tips & above all try to eliminate stress & anxiety
Arabian Princess 12-09-06, 10:55 PM I feel the following every day:
- Inability to wake up easily unless the alarm keeps on ringing for minutes
- Feeling tired at work & school
- Dark circles & headaches
even though I think I sleep enough, like around 6-7 hours at night!
Sleeping on the left side is good for pregnant women, because it improves the flow of nutrients & blood to the placents & the baby
Otherwise, some say that sleeping on the left is better for those who suffer from acid reflux disease
Regrading the effect of the sleeping position on the heart, I did not come across a study which suggests that not sleeping on the left side is better for the heart

Do you feel tired even on the days off work?
Do you feel sleepy & doze off on the weekends?
FaRaSHa 20-09-06, 12:05 AM ......Sanks Hitman for the post.....
.....though i have tried all of these solutions sometime ago.....and i only managed to have a good quality of sleep in 2 days.....then nothing worked again......
.....my maximum hours of sleep would be 4 hours and minimum of 10 minutes:(
and i keep having lots interruption while sleeping, especially recently........i feel my mind is still working hard though i am trying to force my eyes to shut......:weep:
FaRaSHa i have the face thing and i dont see it as a problem, infact it allowes me to accomplish alot of things a day and i like it :)
the hint is to take these 4 hours at night, early night and u will enjoy it more
Talius Brute 23-09-06, 06:12 AM Warm milk with a bit of sugar in it does work, but it's really about regularity and lifestyle.
If you exercise well, or do physical work, then you will sleep very well. If you drink too much, eat too much, or smoke too much then you won't sleep. Particularly if you change your habits - i.e if you drink a lot, you will of course sleep, sleep because you are drunk, but you will wake up still tired, if you then stop drinking it takes many days before you can sleep properly, for the first few days/weeks you can't get to sleep at all and if you do you wake up very often during the night.
Never use sleeping pills though, they are never good for you.
