fatamooo 10-09-06, 03:42 PM I wanted to go to the dentist once, but my mom told me that I probably shouldn't go cause there's nothing wrong with my teeth and all dentists are like hypochondriacs by proxy, if they look at you they're gonna give you a list of all the things that are wrong with your teeth when they're actually fine!!
So I've never been to one before :)
Up to now i haven't been to the Dentsit, even once...:os
My teeth look healthy......but still everybody tell me to go there....so i guess am going...:os

Superbia 10-09-06, 08:25 PM i once had 2 take my teeth out n it was soo scaryyy i was backing up most of the time .. n the dentist(libby's mum) told my dad 2 leav ethe room :( n i was left all alone with her it wa soo scary n i kept on backing up LOL but i managed at the end .. the best part i enjoyed was the feeling that ur gums r puffed lol the effect of that injection thingy k3k3k3 :D
Bimzoori 11-09-06, 12:00 AM i wanna know everybodies expereinces with the dentist !! and that injection they give u in ur gums !! ouch !!!!
Princess, at least you've had your gums injected which means you dont feel the drilling pain.. Imagine, I had two of my teeth drilled WITHOUT any local anaesthetic, I can't describe the pain in words  the worst part is not being able to talk and express your feelings with tens of tools sticking out of your mouth
I've mentioned this once in a previous thread: The mere thought of submissively sitting at that chair surrounded by gun racks on the walls: sporting drills, scalpels, jackhammers and icepicks is sufficient to scare the hell out of me, let alone the actual procedure of injecting, hammering, drilling and filling, etc!
This summarizes my feelings about dentists!
Fdaitny 11-09-06, 12:03 AM I don't mind visiting the dentist anymore.. I had braces for a while ( a long while! lol! ), and now I'm just used to it! [no more braces for me! woo hoo!!] lol!! They're really not bad if you're used to them! Except I once accidently bit my dentist's finger!! :shy:
wow bimzoori... got a pretty traumatic experience!
honestly i dont c wut all the drama is abt visiting the dentist, i mean 90% of the time there's no need 2 worry! ppl who just act scared really annoy me! (altho i am aware of other who have an actual phobia, so tht's ok :))
the only time i had 2 visit a dentist regularily was during the time a had braces (which was around 5 years back). i only had them on the six top teeth for 10 months yet i hated them! i never got 2 worried when i had 2 get them tightened or wutever, i even had 2 get ibts of my gum cut out (near my top lip) & get it stitched & all & tht didnt scare me 2 much, i got 2 eat ice cream 4 the rest o fthe day :color:
my sis who's 8 year solder thn me just got braces bcuz as her wisdom teeth grew they kinda messed up the allignment of a few of her bottom teeth. all 4 of mine r growing (all r almost out) & nothing's been messed up yet... hope i dont have 2 get braces again!
in skool we get these dentists tht come in once a year 2 check our teeth & mine r always fine, so i use tht as an excuse as never having 2 go 4 a proper check up :)
fatamooo 11-09-06, 12:35 AM bimzoori: what on earth could have possibly made you agree to no anaesthetics!?!?!
Bimzoori 11-09-06, 01:11 AM bimzoori: what on earth could have possibly made you agree to no anaesthetics!?!?!
fatamooo, I wasn't even told my teeth were about to be drilled, let alone consulted about anaesthesia :weep:
fatamooo 11-09-06, 01:26 AM Aaaah - if I were you I would have suuuuued them! but not for their money, just have them punished by having everyone involved in that appointment get all their teeth drilled mwahahha!!! lol!!! :p
fatamooo 11-09-06, 01:46 AM al3ain bil3ain walsin bilsin!!! (an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth)
Hamorabi said it himself, he knew this day would come :p
Mahatma Gandhi once said summin along the lines of "If everyone believed in an eye for an eye, the whole world would be blind." same goes for teeth, & i want all my teeth thank u very much :hehe:
Libellula 11-09-06, 02:31 PM I don't really mind going to the dentist, as long as it's someone who I trust and I'm familiar with. Lucky for me, my parents are my dentists, so it all works out nicely. :p
JUVE, I doubt my mum would have allowed you to leave the place without getting what you went there for done :D hahaha. I can imagine her telling you to stop being silly, and just get it over with so you can go home. :p
Superbia 11-09-06, 06:42 PM LOL yeah i was scared from het coz she started 2 get shouty !
Monkiette 11-09-06, 10:10 PM i had braces for 7 years.. my mind is packed with memories..
i had brasis for 6 years so i pracrictly lived in the dentist when i was in schol ! but now since im went abroad for studies i havent beeen to one accpt for once or twice... n once for a chekup.. n when i went there they said my teeth are in good shape.. so i take care of it now.. and im fine with going there accpt for the drilling sound! i hate that ..
The P!an!st 12-09-06, 03:46 PM I remembered when they filled one of me teeth last year .. I actually took the whole pain so that I dont take an injection :D
now I have braces on and for sure I'll soon get some injection so they pull out some teeth LoL !!
FluidNutria 13-09-06, 03:03 AM Haha Libby all i got to say is your mom is one hell of a dentist! She sure knows how to deal with freaked out patients ;)
FluidNutria 13-09-06, 03:05 AM Went to the dentist yesterday just for a check-up and cleaning. Even cleaning is painful :s, the "machine" that scrapes your teeth... ahhh.. like your finger nails scratching the school board. It hit me... Thank god i didnt end up taking dentistry!
I'm okay with visiting the dentist. I never had a painful experience (Al Hamdullilah). Never wore braces, never removed my wisdom teeth and never had a tooth removed by them. So it was the regular check up every 6 months - cleaning, etc. So it didn't hurt much.
my parents don't recommend always cleaning my teeth at the dentist, because it hurts the gum and affects on the teeth (as they say) but al hamdillah I got clean teeth and I don't have a problem with my wisdom teeth, they're not fully out tho :os

pixie girl 17-09-06, 03:31 PM The dentist i go to, is very sweet, and he makes you feel very comfortable..I think the wors tthing i had to experience was pulling out my teeth, when they had to numb it with a needle :(
yeah you mean that "Horse Needle" :os
I need 3 of thoese just to take one tooth
imgine how many they gave me to take 3
Wit Insanity 25-09-06, 10:10 AM I'm studying dentistry and I get afraid of the dentist every once in a while myself. It isn't so bad though.
Teeth cleaning is NOT painful, what the hell...I've had it done a million times before and it was never painful. Unless you have chunks upon chunks of calculus in your mouth (bad bad person you are, you DESERVE to be in pain for neglecting your teeth) and get your gums to bleed like hell while removing them, I don't see how it can be painful.
Wit Insanity 25-09-06, 10:12 AM Oh and...
سن العقل = wisedom tooth
تسوس = caries
حشوة = filling
Just giving you guys the proper terminology :p
Dark Project 25-09-06, 01:58 PM Oh me and the dentist can never get along LOL Once in my life I had to visit and I sworn that I will never see a dentist in my life and will make sure that my tessth are well looked after Al Hamdullilah Perfect teeth I have ;)

Ahhh! You are so right!
But you should go...for cleaning at least :)
I can't say anymore....but I would like to marry a dentist. It would save alot of ka-ching ka-ching! and think of all the free stuff..omg... whitening...etc etc. and best of all, lying on the dental chair, looking up at...yours truly (i.e: the husband) cleaning your mouth for you! So slick....
mmmmm

Yeah, so slick...until he comes over with the biggest needle ever and start poking your mouth and drilling holes into your teeth because they are rotting. So romantic isn't it?:p
tiarathrones 27-09-06, 08:27 PM mmm true true...NOW YOU'VE SPOILT MY INNOCENT FANTASY
BOHOOHOO
when you should then go..and an every 6 months test -just to check- won't do you no harm right?
