Steve Irwin has died at the age of 44 after being stung on his chest by a deadly Stingray. He was filming a documentary under water here in the coast of Queensland at the time of his death. He was an Australian attraction and icon. He was known as the Crocodile Hunter. I know he cheated death many times; unfortunately he wasn't lucky this time.

It's truly a loss for Australia and his fans. My sincere condolences to his family and two adorable children.

No one can cheat death, it's just a matter of time and nothing to do with luck.

So he is the one in discovery channel.

It happens so often that I read something fatamooo writes and I think, "Wait...that's what I was just going to say!!!"

Or sometimes, "That's right! I wish I'd thought of that..."

I have seen many of his shows, and his enthusiastic way of getting the animal to the camera is amazing... he was so into his wild life... and would make kids as well as adults hooked on the TV when he is on…

The video of his death is still not released... there is a debate whether to release it or not... if anyone has found it, please let me know…

Sting Rays are not known to attack humans, it was just his time to go... so sad...

The poor guy got stung right in the heart. It wasn't his day I guess. 2 or 3 inches away from where he got stung, he would be saying something like:

"Ohh Am I not so Lucky Mate? The stingray was just defending itself!"

I liked the guy. :(

its really sad! animal planet will never be the same again! (some of u might already know im addicted 2 the stuff ) he's 1 of the gr8est wild life experts there ever was

would just like 2 correct the bit lym said abt how he died. he didnt die from the venom of the stingray, he died bcuz the ray shot its "tail" straight up, as a form of defense, & tht stabbed him right thru & punctured his heart. & as kamakazy said, stingrays dont attack humans, they never attack anything apart from prey unless they feel threatened.. (tht's not 2 say tht Irwin was trying 2 kill it or anything....)

Errr, where did I say that he died because of a stingray's venom? I merely said he was stung by a deadly stingray which is true as your described it, it pierced his heart straight away, but I didn't say anything about his venom. However, according to the reports in Australia, it was a poisonous black stingray that is concentrated around the stingray's tail.

You know, EEEEEEVERYTHING is Australia is POISONOUS.

This is a dangerous country, Omanis...

Every year, they get the "most poisonous" award.

Even the PLATYPUS is poisonous, for heaven's sake! Does he look poisonous?

http://purgatorio1.com/wp-content/pics/platypus.jpg

No, right? But, wallahi, he is POISONOUS!

Poor Steve, I agree, he was a nice guy and I liked him, too. But the sting ray was probably hired by all those crocodiles that Steve embarrassed by chasing them. They are the only thing in Australia that is NOT poisonous...

You don't mess around with dangerous animals and laugh. Frankly, the whole world knew he'd die from his actions sooner or later!

I used to like him until when i saw his picture feeding a crocodile with one hand and while his other hand he was carrying his baby of just few months old (maybe 4-5 months old)!

He was not afraid of anything..

He knew that one day he was going to die while working. I hope his wife will not continue with this proffesion considering their kids.

At least he died doing something that he enjoys!

His daughter Belinda or Bendy of 5 I think, has her own show already with wild life animals. The documentary he was shooting was for her show. His wife and daughter are wild life enthusiasts. I doubt they will stop especially that they own the Australian Zoo.
