View Full Version : Are They Fat?

They're all fat. Did you notice? All women are fat. Or they think they're starting to GET fat. It seems like if a woman looks down and sees more than skin and bones, they feel fat.

I figure that if it's not a health problem for you, you shouldn't worry about it too much. Lots of women actually look better when they are a bit chunky; I've seen girls lose weight and be so proud, but they actually didn't look as good. There are plenty of heavy girls that look beautiful but they worry about their weight all the time. And there are lots of very skinny ones that--well--you worry about them a little...

Why is this? Is it the fault of men? Are we too demanding of "skinny" girls? Or is it just something in women's nature? What do you think?

And what can men do to make things better/help? Anything?

Well as far as i know...most men prefer women with abit of meat in them..rather then bones!!

and I guess its just womens nature about the weight thing...

I wouldn't blame it on men, I'd blame it on the media and how it portrays women. Switch on the TV, go to the movies, flip through a magazine, and you'll see that all the women/actresses/models used are slim. The media basically tells us that this is what a beautiful woman looks like, hence beautiful = skinny.

I agree that being overweight is very unattractive, and there are a lot of health problems that are associated with obesity, but women should be encouraged to lose weight in a healthy way. Eg exercise, eating well balanced meals, cutting down on fried and fatty foods.

Personally, I don't consider myself to be fat or chubby. I know that if I was slightly "bigger" I would feel very self conscious. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with myself if I was fat, and I'm talking from personal experience. A couple of years ago I just went all balloon-like all of a sudden, and I hated myself.

Anyway, in general I think that it's a good thing for women to care about their weight and appearance (to a certain point). It's not very pleasant seeing obese people, especially those who don't dress well according to their bodies, and we end up seeing every lump of fat. :os

I think it's normal for women to gain some weight after marraige and after having kids. But the problem when the woman reach to the over weight level it's not even healthy and she will face problems in her life. Might also be a good reason for her husband to marry another woman :D

Ice tea, and the husband too, when he has a big tummy and not healthy anymore .. its a good reason to get divorce

Like libby, I think the media portrays beatiful women as think skinny ones .. and here where women start worrying about how much fat they have..

You say that if she doesnt have a health issue, then she is ok .. but then, when does she know if she has a health issue or not? when she is sick already? I think its hard to relate obesity to diseases

Blame it on the media. A fashion show was on television the other day, and the models were all walking skeletons, which is not an unusual scene on the catwalk. However, I think that besides them models, less than 5% of the world's female population is actually THAT skinny, so on what basis is the media setting that standard of beauty? These women feed on tissue paper and leaves to keep their figure for god's sake! Looking at obese people is not a pretty sight, but neither is anorexics, it's creepy!

hehe this thread was there all the times, thousand times....LOL...
Anyway...Skinny women nowadays just care for the fashon, nothing to do with health and nutrition. Skinny women in oman are just gaining more diseases and illnesses than they gain beauty.
Like when you ask your skinny wife to hand over the gas cylinder to you so you can take it and re-fill it, she would never be able to move that an inch. In that case that is really sick thing to do, to get skinny, and nevertheless getting meat layers that renders a woman un-mobilizable is also a big problem.

I know that many women got fat on period, and just eating one sandwich shawirma, will get her 5 KG of fat... just like that... which for men 10 sandwitches won't even been noticed in their discharge system.

So women are born to be more fat and chubby than men. especially our race which is basically like any other creature where there are basic differences between male and females in the size and shape.

So those western ladies and men who are just so much born as model are not really a good sample in life as an idiom of beauty. Thair body compared to their men should fit, but sure for men like us, they won't. ALLAH the creator do give everything He creates the suitable companion, which as a matter of fact "The Best Thing To Have". Talking about being thin or skinny at the days of my grand father was a sign of poverty and sickness. So a woman who is thin of skinny will not find a proper marriage becasue she is not really appreciated among men.

So being thin is just again "A Fashion" nothing more, and as we are imitating the west in every thing, here comes one page of the bulky book of Arab Blindly Imitating Westerns, one page of "women'ts body probabilities", which is strangely gets more attention than men's body. That is due to the preoccupation with women't body and nudity which we don't have in our world.

So the equation should go like this:

Arab man will not look to naked women = Arab man won't get to know about what he is missing = Arab man would get more satisfaction of what he got (thinking that this is the norm) = Arab women won't get to get so skinny = Arab women would get time to look for their kids insted of leaving them to the maids.

women obsess about everything. But yeah.. Being fat is very un-attractive in my opinion..but if the woman starts obsessing over gaining one kilo only then that too is very un-attractive (as in the attitude).

Some women are at their most beautiful when they're thin, and some when they're heavier.

I believe Marilyn Monroe was a size 16 or something? I don't think she would have been such a sex symbol if she were a size 0 model or something.

And then again, there were models in the sixties like Twiggy, who were beautiful because they were skinny. It just happened that way.

And by the way, this new craze about being skin and bones thin is a relatively new one. In most cultures women are actually encouraged to gain weight. I was told that in Dhofar when a woman gets engaged they feed her till she becomes like really FAT cause that's their image of ideal beauty. In Japan, women are more slender and slim.

Anyways, if you look back into the past decades, you would notice that the real frenzy started around the sixties. When generation 'mod' came out, and the style was sleek and monochromatic in high fashion, they wanted skinny skinny skinny models: Twiggy, Penelope Tree, Peggy Moffitt, etc..

In any case, I think the times are a lot more embracing now than they were before. I mean, we all know what celebs like J. Lo, Beyonce and Shakira are adored for, right? ;)

So guys actually like chubby girls?! Aaaaah I knew it all along =P LOL Gotta gain weight then hehe.

I don't really need to obsess about my weight since I'm thin and even if I sat there pigging out on food all day long, I know I won't get fat. And I don't think the blame falls on the media alone. It's a personal kind of thing. You're not pleasing anyone by losing weight, it's just that being thin satisfies you and only you. You're not doing it to impress guys.

This is a great thumbnail history.

But is it good? Should we try to change it? And what can men do to make it easier for their sisters, their mothers, their friends?

Remember, men, you can be selfish when thinking about your girlfriend or wife, but it's harder when you see the others that belong to you suffer... If your daughter is crying because she's hungry and afraid to eat or suffering because she thinks boys don't like her because she's not as thin as a pencil, maybe you will think differently...

Women blame men a lot, but I hardly think that's entirely the case.

Sure, men come around and say I like my woman to be so and so, but just because a guy said it, it's suddenly a law? If your boyfriend or whatever comes up to you and says a grand piano is gonna fall on your head RIGHT now, you're not gonna collapse on the floor in agony. The men are not locking away all the food and then dangling a cookie in front of you to make you jog two miles every day.

A guy said I like girls skinny. YOU are the one who's starving yourself, throwing yourself up, getting lipo, etc. A guy said he likes big lips or breasts. YOU are the one who's getting collagen or whatever injected into God knows where. I really don't like it when people blame others for their own actions. As long as you do it using your own prerogative and no one telling you what to do, it's your decision and no one else's. If you decide that you want to become a slave to one man's specifications, that's also a CHOICE.

So what I think women should start doing is ask themselves: what do I want to look like? Do I like myself thin? fat? curvy? athletic? hourglass? And THEN go for it. The problem is a lot of women are too afraid subconsciously to do things because THEY want it like that. They feel like they need someone to justify it or guide them towards a specific path and then they feel ok in doing it. I mean isn't that the main message behind every single fashion magazine or ad campaign ever produced?

"You can look like this now, it's 'in' - that's what people want".

I blame it on two things : The media and men.

The media issues was discussed well by Libellula which I agree to. I think men are another reason because when they do see a slim attractive girl, they go "daaaaaaaaaym", of course not all say that, others just look at the girl like they've never seen anything like her with their jaws dropped :p. I rarely saw a guy react that way when a slightly heavier girl walked across the street.

Men show us that they generally prefer one who is slim, and that's why women strive to be slim, because that's what is beautiful to them- being slim. Being women, they try to impress, try to look attractive and beautiful for the people around her and herself.

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh baby, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But with that butt you got makes me feel so h0rny
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that average groupy
I've seen them dancin'
The hell with romancin'
She's sweat, wet,
Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette
I'm tired of magazines
Sayin' flat butts are the thing
Take the average black man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)
Shake that healthy butt!
Baby got back!

It's not entirly to impress people. It's mostly about satisfying yourself. I mean we all want to have a nice body, get to wear absolutely whatever we want without us looking fat or showing some fat body parts.

I don't know about other women, but myself I got really annoyed with myself when I was a bit over weight, now I'm ok but still wanting to lose more.
