Also in the same way to extend the idea, best post of the month, which will be the same way nominated and qualified to tht contest. A member can't nominate his own thread or post but can nominate other's.

That if you say I will go throw everyone of them and chose the best among them. This comes really far more natural and simple than you think. One member mention that he think that the thread xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is the most intersing of all what he read this month, the other will say that yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy was a better one, and so on...etc.

Every one say his own opinion, and simply at the poll time people will get few to read and to pick from...Isn't it?

Figure out a way to make this work and I'll fully support it.

A thead gets the "Best Thread" when it has many of the following:

1-Interesting topic...Which means that quickly it picks up replies from other members.

2-Flaming Discussion...Which means that it will get a hot sign for a long time that it keeps getting slammed by viewers and repliers!

3-Orientation of Discussion...Which is mainly the effort of the thread starter or a member interested dramatically in the thread, which keeps pumping fuel to thread and keep aligning it to more wider questions and opening more creative consequences of the topic in hand.

4-The quality of replies injected into the thread...Which happens sometimes where the streem of replies challenges the next member to get more involved, in the discussion

Things like these kamakazy, and if I have time I would get long listings. SUre I will come back on this later if you need more elaboration.

I think this post can be a good example of the best post of this month.

OK ... I think I want to clear up something. The idea of this award is to encourage people to:

1-Be more selective while starting new threads.

2-Have more responsibility to the threads they start.

3-Give threads more time to grew.

4-Give members more space to read.

5-Make some threads sticky for sometime, in order not to be swiped by the age factor to "page 2" of the "new posts" which happens very easly due to the amount of new threads opened.

6-Guide new members who joined recently from loosing track and getting started easily.

7-Give a more unified idea about the taste of the sabla, which means, will lead people to get an idea that we have a systematic criteria of evaluation of what is written and discussed.

Figure out a way to make this work and I'll fully support it.
What should I say... A plan..! OK..

Plan:
-25ht of each month, members are requested to nominate a thread as "The Month's Best Thread", In other words the thread that they have mostly visited and interested in during the month. All members , as I know , are using the " New Subscribed Threads " link which is in their "User CP" section to see the new posts of a thread they are religiously following. That is a suggested way to pick and nominate a thread, whcih I know is not really a hard task to do... as far as the member is capable of using the froum browsing tools efficiently.

-1st of the next month, will be a poll of "Last Month's Best Thread" from the nominated threads collected in the last 5-6 days.

Rules of Nomination:
-A member can't nominate a threads that he started.
-Every member is requested to nominate only "one" thread nothing more.
-The thread nominated should have not less than say 25+ replies as a minimum.
-Threads can be nominated only one time.
-Threads "locked" can't be nominated. A thread must be open for posts to be nominated.
-Threads of chit-chat and member living rooms are not to be nominated.

Something like that, I think it is far less easier than best member and best mod, that members don't have to chose between a list of names, but they can contribute in the list themselves!

Yes, one of them at least will have 2 votes and the others will have one, then this one will be the best of the month...

Any way, this is just a suggestion nothing more, sure in every thing new lots of things could go wrong or may not work at all... But sure we are born to try..Right? :)

Again, this is left to the discussion where I think those polls about best members mods ... etc faced troubles at the begining (as I do remember) then people got used to it and now it is Thanks To Allah , so smooth and successful.

Theatrically I think you are right, but practically this wouldn't happen. Looking at polls and how people chose, that I have found that most of the members pick from the already existing choices of other members and hardly few are those who take initiation to suggest a different thread...Isn't it??

I might agree BUT again I think the upper end hand of this should be up to the Team :) (LONG LIVE US) LOL:p

I thought that 25 is the least to prove quality of the thread, in other words, 25 times a thread gets a reply hit, will most porbably have something in it...This is how I thought of it.

:os Read Jeff, read carefully first then post! I think you misunderstood the meaning of the thread. This is not to nominate a thread or a post, it is just to "SUGGEST THE IDEA OF MAKING A REWARD FOR IT".

Nominating and polling is a totally different step which we are "NOT" dealing with IT now! :os

Oh, well, I guess the joke's on me then! ;-)
