Life isnt bed of roses! -- It has multifarious ups n down! -- At few points, we feel helpless n virtually dead -- We assume the world around us has gone dark n we dont stand a chance!! -- At that time we feel that its better to die off! -- but usually we dont put this thinking in action n look out for a solution n most of the time we convince ourselves that this is life n we better adapt to the change!

BUT,

Sometimes some people dont seem to cope up with the changes, problems, agonies, needles and actually try to commit suicide!--

Never thought of committing suicide alhumdolillah!

I think people who's head are in the cloud and lived a content and happy life but then face a drastic sudden life change (finance/loss of partner or family member etc) can make people seriously depressed and they lose the will to live.

Luckily, a lot of people have friends and family - who are very supportive and help during stressful times. But people who have nobody to turn to, may feel suicidal.

I reckon its the devils trick, shaitaan persuades an individual when they are vulnerable to take a drastic action like taking their own life.

And if you really deeply think about it.........what method would you use to kill yourself? (shudder)

I've used the term: "I'm going to kill myself if ______ happens" or whatever. Haven't really meant it, or ever thought about doing so.. Life's too precious to end it because of one thing, not matter how miserable it makes you..

i thought of it once or twice when i'm really mad and just wanna disappear! but then i remember the good times and the ppl i know and say my life isnt that bad afterall :) i know i'd NEVER do it, its just when ur angry u say things u dont mean like "i'm gonna KILL myself, i hate everything!" :os

Solitude + Boredom = Suicide
Solitude + Pain = Suicide
Solitude + Hopeless = Suicide
Solitude + Lose = Suicide
Solitude + Failure = Suicide
Solitude + Guilt = Suicide
Solitude + Addict = Suicide
Solitude + Injustice = Suicide
Solitude + Weakness = Suicide
Solitude + Sickness = Suicide

Add any regular life-correlated hardness to "Solitude" and sure you will get the same result. I think a dominant factor like "Solitude" can make any mischief so lethal!

Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron [a weapon] will have that piece of iron in his hand, stabbing himself in the stomach with it in the Fire of Hell forever and ever." (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5778).

"And whosoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty)." [al-Talaaq 65:2]
"Allaah will grant after hardship, ease." [al-Talaaq 65:7]

I wonder how can some people still think about it and do it knowing what is stated above. It can be a test from Allah and the solution is in the last two verses (above).

Can you please tell me why it is Forbidden ? does it really effect the society if a useless person killed him self ?

i just wander why such a thing is Forbidden and why the jewish " Bani Isreal " were told to kill them selfs once in order to wash their sins.

Qura'an was made for both the society, and the person. Maybe it doesn't affect a society if a some depressed Muslim sweeper killed himself. But does it affect him? Yes. Because your life, is never really yours...It is the most precious thing you have, and was given to you by Allah. As Allah gave it to you, he is the only one who has the right to take it.

Many scholars agreed that suicide bombers are considered martyrs, if their aim was to kill ENEMIES, not the enemy's civilians. So yes, I would say that some suicide bombing is haram, while the other is halal, wa Allah A3lam...

I think the Jews killing themselves was for a higher goal, that we don't know of. I have heard it was because of God's mercy on them, but I'm not sure!

As far as I know Islam, I think suicide bombing of any kind is Haram, well at least that's what I believe, it's ok to die in the name of Islam by fighting for your rights and all, but suicide of ANY sort is Haram.

You have every right to have an opinion about this mate :) But just think about this for a moment, there are chronically depressed people around the world, depression itself gives people suicidal thoughts, add to that the fact that the depression medications sometimes increase these suicidal thoughts even more, let alone the fact that antidepressants themselves drains a person from his feelings, can you honestly tell me that these people still shouldn't even every once in a while think about ending their lives?

For every Illness/Disease there is a cure (except Death) wather its known now or NOT.(or as how Our beloved Prophet said)..Depression is No exception from this.....and who loses hope and end his/her life in such a wasted way dont deserve to be human!.(I guess I will keep on being harsh LOL)..a ones Soul is not a game and its entrusted so we use it in the best way...(religious wise.:..towards Allah orders)....

I must say it has crossed my mind a few times long time ago.. when things really went bad.. I don't think I'd ever had the courage to actually do it though.. and besides, everything just seems better the next day.. When the next day comes you actually realize how silly the whole issue was and not really worth the dramatic action of commiting suicide. doh! lol

no i havent , even though i once felt like theres nuthin for me in this life and that i should just die to stop my pain ,,, but this feeling disappears in only one day !!! im too dramatic and emotional :P ...

People in general have a romantic idea about suicide, and doing it to control their own destiny.. However most of them don't realize that they only die once, and there is no life after they kill themselves.

Fact: Women romanticize about the idea of committing suicide, and are more into the idea instead of the actual actions. So they would use methods that would leave them for eg. "in deep sleep - forever". Their attempts are usually a cry for help rather then thinking of actual suicide. eg. slitting the wrists.
While most Men are idealists and have more successful suicides, as the methods they use are proved to actually work. "eg. gun to the mouth/hanging".

Never. Why should I when there is Allah to pray to when things get tough, when I am unhappy and desperate? The Prophet (PBUH) suffered being called names, being thrown stones, being thrown trash, losing both his parents whilst still a child, losing all his male children, etc etc. Yet, through all that, he prayed, relied on Allah, and through much patience Allah opened the doors of hope, faraj, strength and greatness. (wa man yataqi allah, yaj3al laho makhrajan wa yarziqohu min haithu la yahtasib).

The thought of it never occurred to me. I think that generally I'm a happy, cheerful person, but even if I did reach the lowest of lows, the fact that I fear God's punishment would stop me from doing anything too drastic.

Never. It's for those desperate people who can't stand for them selves.

I know i've never thought about it seriously.. a girl i know had cuts on her arm last year.. i couldn't even bear the thought of doing that to myself.. too painful.
