As some of us would've noticed .. a similar forum called OmanServ has been hacked yesterday .. there have been some casualties .. the hackers got into some users accounts .. and from what i heard, the hackers deleted the mods accounts ..
So admins .. iam just wondering how safe this forum is .. i respect the fact that it has been standing for 6 years now .. but is there a risk of englishsabla getting hacked?
Guys..any comments about this topic?

What happened to Omanserv was indeed very dissapointing and I hope that everything gets restored over there to the way it was real soon. I have already started a topic with the rest of the team to make sure that we have everything backed up and that we're fully secured to prevent something as horrible as that to happen to us as well...so inshallah we'll be fine.

they deleted the mods accounts first.. I think they would have deleted every single thing if the admin didn't get there in the nick of time.

Pooor omanserv lol this was like totally unexected. Three accounts (mods accounts) were like totally deleted. Gets one thinking...why OS of all forums hehe..

V Bullet Forums are easy to be hacked , you can even find the tutorials by searching on google.

LoL I remember few years back I hacked into a friend account and took over his site and stuff. And by mistake, I deleted half the forum he had on his site. I felt so bad for the poor guy.

Any site can be hacked any time, I think this site will be save as long as everything is backed up on daily basis.

I hope no one from ES was involved in OmanServ issue :D

STIN, I don't think it's required to do daily backup, it's not like we are running a country here, lol.

Maybe once every 2 weeks or month, more than enough.

Does a higher version offers better security?

A higer version will be more tolarent against new techniques of hacking sweety .. and English Sabla was upgraded a few months back..so we're on the safe side

actually, afaik, it is being upgraded as we speak. still I've heard of forums being hacked from various weak points like from their shoutbox..

Maybe you Omanis should hack some Saudi forums to get back.
