much subjective I must say...
and not easy to answer
smart can be related to looks
or can be related to way of thinking and organizing your things
or can be how you deal with people and go through the different ways in life inorder to gain what you are eager to own!
or can be more of a bookworm

Smart to you might be Dumb to others :D

that's a very interesting answer thug... well said.

I also think smart could be getting what you want in a way that others may not expect

smart can be outsmarting someone in a challenge.

I also think smart is when you accomplish something extremely difficult in an easy way.

May smart also be consider a high IQ?... might be that too...

what I may also think is... gaining knowledge does not necessarily make you smart... but how to USE the knowledge you got may be so.

right?... am i smart or what? :XD:

Someone who knows what the hell they're talking about, who doesn't just say the first thing on their mind without thinking of the ramifications, who UNDERSTANDS what is going on around them.

I dont think so
take for example our grand fathers specially thoese who were merchants, had no education at all but gained knowledge by asking, exploring and experience.

ummm... sweety :p... just after thinking about it...
the definition of education is the act of giving knowledge... literally speaking :p...
our grandfathers received education according to the level of the age they were living in.
so according to their generation our grandfathers were considered educated.

However that can be dicussed elsewhere I guess :p... good point anyway... I get it.

To me, someone who is smart isn't just good at the academic stuff/book smart, but also smart in life. Knowing how to deal with tough situations when you're under pressure, interacting with people, doing stuff on your own without needing asistance from others, the ability to speak well and get your point across easily, etc.

Familiarizing yourself to everything in a short period of time. and instinctively do what the circumstances require..i guess :dev:

I think the person is smart when s/he can use what he learns at school in real life ....
when s/he learns something about a certain thing and then s/he figure out another way to use it ...

TripleTee

I also consider a person who learns fast... who can relate to topics, discuss it logically and sometimes teach him/herself things without the help of others as someone smart.
