View Full Version : Showing love in public!
Endure Whisper 19-08-06, 11:47 AM I was out with my cousins and aunt, and my aunt wanted to give her daughter a hug for some reason that happened over there! Her daughter got really angry and kept distance saying: "Noway! We're in public"!
On the other hand, a woman once refused hugging her niece in public making the excuse: "no we're in public"!!!!!
Another incidence took place, where one of the mothers told their daughters that she missed her during her absence and the daughter felt uncomfortable because we, her friends, were present!!!
I am really shocked! What's wrong with showing love in public?
When I asked the girls, they said it was inappropriate do such a thing, not only because our culture doesn't really approve of that, but also because it attracts people's attention!
What do you think? Would you show love in public or do you have a different opinion about this?
Fdaitny 19-08-06, 11:54 AM I would show 'love' in public. I wouldn't mind that. People would still notice you no matter what you do, so I don't really care. :D
Ppl from the same gender can show love in puplic....i don't see any problem..
But not if there are man and a woman...:os
it's ok for me to hug my family in public it doesn't make me feel embaressed :)
fatamooo 19-08-06, 01:34 PM Lol those people are just a liiiiittle (= alot) too self conscious. Too shy to hug your mother in public? Come ooon!
I think it's ok to show affection for your family and stuff, but not like your husband or something, it's just weird! I mean I would get confused and embarassed if a guy in Oman kissed his wife and this happened in front of me.
FanTasTiK 19-08-06, 01:48 PM yah why should we feel shame showing love .. . ...
but what if .. i am haunted with great love at that time .... shall i give a kiss in public ... i mean french kiss ... wouldn't u mind seeing two pPlz kissing ... :o ..
am starting to imagine what would goes in ur mind at that momento :6: ...
so what u think ... :color: .. iz it fine .. . ?
i think .. hugz iz Okay ... but ... love in other wayz could drive other pplz crazy ... kekek especially kidz .. . . :XD:
Showing the type of love mentioned in the example above seems alright. But I think it is not appropriate for couples to engage in foreplay or other stimulating actions in public. Those should be exercised in private facilities.
people are getting weirder and weirder by the day :os
What do you think?
- I think it's ok to show love in public between family members, and with others it's ok to hug.
Would you show love in public or do you have a different opinion about this?
- Yes, I would it's not embarassing.

Love in public places is fine as long as your car's windows are tinted

Are you trying to be funny?
Sorry dear, I just replied by reading the thread's title, I did not read your first post
I thought some other sort of love ;)
Endure Whisper 20-08-06, 11:23 AM So what are your views after reading the thread? With it or against it?
I am not against it of course :)

You mean Laboratories?

In a Muslim country is not even possible to go hand in hand with our sweetheart so probably this has created the conviction that in general to show emotions in public is wrong.

I would have stood 100% by your side if you said this 10 years ago! People think very advanced nowadays, and are more open towards many things! One of the people I am really proud of is my brother! He would play with his wife's hair in public, kiss her forehead when he greets her in public, and hold hands with her when they are walking together. People tend to look, but do you really think it's worth stop getting intimate with your loved one because you drag attention to yourself?
You mean Laboratories?
Well nezitiC if the couples wish to do some roleplay along with the making love, I don't see why it can't be a laboratory ;)
But not necessarily :p
hey as long as it's innocent huggin & kissin i dont c the problem... gimme some love!
i wouldnt care wut other ppl would think.... y should i?

Define innocent???:p
I mean we can not go hugging and kissing between man and women in public...:eh: :p
Miss G does that statement stand for even hugging and kissing your life partner?
Define innocent???:p
I mean we can not go hugging and kissing between man and women in public...:eh: :p
YES WE CAN!!!! :XD: :XD: :XD:
well i said innocent cuz endure whisper gave examples on mom's & daughters & friends hugging or wutever...
& this goes 2 sting as well.... if ur huggin or kissing ur life long partner, r u honesetly thinking "innocent" thoughts?! :color:
i mean altho i9 dont mind ppl doin wutever in public (just as long as it isnt digusting).... however its true tht a certain amount of decency must be kept 2 respect every1 around
pixie girl 20-08-06, 06:07 PM It depends on what your doing in public and with who, I don't see anything wrong with hugging a family member or kissing if its a small peck..but I think anything like a passionate kiss and sensual touching should be done at home, cause it might make someone next you uncomfortable even if you meant no harm.
Her XLNC 20-08-06, 07:33 PM I dont mind spreading the love :)
I don't see anything wrong with an innocent hug if it was a family member..or holding your partners hands in public. There are limits which one should avoid crossing of course but those should be fine.
arabian bella 20-08-06, 11:36 PM I dont see anything wrong with hugging or kissing ur family members. I mean showing love creates love. If ur kids get used to seeing it they will find it easy to express love, instead of being embarressed by it.
Holding hands with ur partner or giving them a simple peck or even a hug, I would say is harmless but kissing pationately in public is over doing it....
TripleTee 20-08-06, 11:48 PM I see nothing wrong with it as long's it's within limits. especially your family or your partner... I see it something natural... nothing to be surprised or embarrassed about.
ToomuchaT 21-08-06, 12:25 AM .. just be careful do not put urselves in an embarrassing situation!!.. or be careful not to be vedio-ed by some jerks!!
.. i think it's better to be done in private.. it's more relaxing!!
.. the big problem is we start with family members in public then it ends with the house maids in public. :hyper:
.. society has respect as well.
The P!an!st 21-08-06, 01:28 AM What do you think?
it is totally okay to show love in public :S
Would you show love in public or do you have a different opinion about this?
yes I do show love in public in so many ways !! sometimes my father or mother feed me coz Im lazy to cut the pizza .. sometimes I do this : buy me something I give u a kiss and I do it alOT actually LOL
Lym said, "people are getting weirder and weirder by the day"
Whew! I thought I was the only one who noticed. ;-)
Thank goodness, it's only the people, though. The animals are the same; they're always reliable...
princess ~R~ 29-08-06, 02:43 AM if i saw a couple kiss , i'll roll my eyes and thats it !!
FluidNutria 31-08-06, 02:12 AM Lol those people are just a liiiiittle (= alot) too self conscious. Too shy to hug your mother in public? Come ooon!

Hahhaa they should see us when we say hi. Probably freak the sh!t outta them :p
A hug is alright...holding hands is okaay too...slight make-out is acceptable...but when it gets e7m aggressive...I go like "get a room" lol...I wouldn't wanna make out with my partner in front of the whole world. And I don't mind hugging kissing family members but I hate it when things get like too mushy lol
Libellula 31-08-06, 03:11 PM I see nothing wrong with showing affection for family members. If I'm out with my dad or grandfather, I hold hands with them, I wrap my arm around them, I'd hug them, kiss them. There's nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about.
As for couples, I think that holding hands, and a quick kiss is alright. Anything more passionate than that is too much.
People in other countries are so much more open about displaying their love for one another. I was at Starbucks in the UK once and there was this couple sitting at the table next to me. Anyway, the girl was sitting on the guy's lap and they were having this intense make-out session for half an hour or so. The guy even went as far as slipping his hand into her jeans. I was so tempted to go up to them and tell them to go get a room. Other people don't wanna watch these things! :os
liberty 01-09-06, 12:31 AM I agree entirely with Mesmie and Libellula.
Yes, I am American, and I have occasionally seen couples making out in public, but I always found it offensive and juvenile and stupid. It's not as common in America as some may think. America is actually pretty prudish, despite what you may see in the movies. But, it depends on where you are in America.
OMG, Libellula, that really happened at a Starbucks in London? LOL! Sheez! LOL! I'm laughing because of the ridiculousness of people being that crude and uncaring about others. I mean, it's so stupid it's funny.
I don't feel very comfortable holding my wife's hand in public in Muscat because I read before I came here that any kind of physical affection in public in Oman is frowned on. But I see Omani couples holding hands. (Maybe the article had Thumrait in mind.) :) So I surmise that holding hands and gentlemanly affection in public in Muscat is now okay.
Superbia 01-09-06, 03:53 AM Well i don't mind showing love as in family or friendship type of love .. BUT not couple type of love 'coz it will just attract atention and wud b odd at this part of the world.
i think it's ok if it's like in a normal way.. like holding hands is really cute for me.. but kisssing etc etc is too much !
but in airports when it's been so long since couples have seen each other i love to watch light kisses n hugges... it really warms my heart !
Ppl just Exagurate whatever they dont have or do, showing love to others is always a good thing maybe in public it should only have some limit
If it was in public and infront of alot of people then yes, I would be emabaressed ... :mmhmm:
But sometime such stuff happens without feeling.
liberty 01-09-06, 08:35 PM Well, family affection is one thing, and should not be discouraged, IMO.
The kind of boy-girl erotic goings on that Libellula witnessed at a Starbucks in London is indecent, immature and stupid. Even making out in public, without the groping, is indecent, immature and stupid.
Too bad I'm preaching to the choir; better if the Western youth heard it. Actually though, only a tiny minority act that way. So considering that in a free society there will always be a weird minority that will do anything for shock value, really it's not anything near a major problem.
Love in public places is fine as long as your car's windows are tinted
hahahaahhahaaa ROFLMAO

With this i agree. I never tire of saying it and I'll say it again. People should stop making other people's lives and choices their own business.
Like, get a life already! What's the big deal? If I want to hug my husband when he arrives at the airport, why should mr. or ms X have a problem with it? Why not get on with their own business instead of stare at me like i'm raping some child? It's love! Love is good! And I make sure we hug and kiss infront of my kids, so they feel how mum and dad love each other and how it should be.
Funny how some parents don't think twice of arguing and name calling infront of their kids but feel uncomfortable showing affection.
The world is truly messed up.
if i saw a couple kiss , i'll roll my eyes and thats it !!
me too. I'd say .. "ahhh how lovely! They're so in love!"
Look around you. How much fighting, arguing, cruelty and war do you see? But you don't see enough love to balance it out. Like love is almost something one should hide...
liberty 02-09-06, 12:18 AM Fengy, there is enough love to balance out the fighting, arguing, cruelty and war . We just don't always see it.
A smile, a helpful assist, etc., do not get the attention that rockets get.
But there is a whole lot of love in this world. Just be open to it and it will find you.
It's amazing to see how some people are capable of showing love in public. Sweet!
A french kiss would blow it, would it not? So, yes, hugging is fine.
Valentina 03-09-06, 12:25 PM see how you talked about these younger girls...well there is a certain age groups, meaning you know 10-15 where seriously they don't wanna even be seen with their parents,
so like showing love in public by their family...they really do freak out.
}}RiYaMiNoOo{{ 27-09-06, 07:43 PM Ohh ma God that pathetic!! i mean whats wrong with showing love in puclic?! I don't mind kissing or hugging family (mum, dad, granny and bros) in public!! it aint embarassing at all!!
As Valentina said those who are emabressed are usually those pathetic juveniles!! They would think showing luv and affection in public would bring them a bad rep "loseer!!" "mummy and dady's lil puppy!!" and so on!
sunmoon 27-09-06, 09:03 PM ha ha:hyper: :XD:
As long as it doesnt exceed decency, then yeah its ok to show emotions, affection. I think ppl who have problems with that are basicaly insecure thats probably the reason its like common with teengers...whatever
Rossonero 28-09-06, 08:52 PM Once in city center i saw a western get his middle finger and put it on his wife's behind, with their daughters present!
See people? Learn ;)
pReTtY_sIcKo 28-09-06, 09:45 PM i have no problem at all to show my love or someone show me her love in public :D we do this when we c our friends n stuff ( oh my god i misssssssssed u loooooooong time no c :P )..hugs n kisses.. that's really normal for me i cannt just not to show my feeling just cuz we r in public
toxic_honey 28-09-06, 10:01 PM its ok if its between friends.....
from the same sex 4 sure ( not gays)
but u know what i hate it when some ppl like BF& GF or husband and wife
when they go in public and they act like (( OH! we should show love)) :os
why in public!! GET A ROOM!!
people now are being like animals
and animals are being like people!
thats a fact now!
i think it's acceptable to hug and kiss family members..
hold hand and quick kisses on the hands, cheeks and forehead between partners are also ok..
nothing more...
