ooh, I once replied to this in another forum, my answer was a yes...now am not sure lol, but..slightly yes..many friends last for ever being best friends.

loool it was always a yes to me until now! hehe im kinda not sure..
i think it just stays in ur heart.. that ur really close to that person n that she was ur best friend 1 day.. but u dont get to talk to see each other as oftin.. u know the busy life n studying or maybi even getting married..
n then that's the case of making new friends ! so i think it kinda decreses ! hehe

Bes friends due last forever but not with the same person

You can have best friends, but as you grow older, you tend to befriend others, and spend more time with newer friends, who you call your best friends. I've had a best friend for 9 years and we're like the total opposite of each other in many things (well as we grew older, we started becoming opposites). I still have 2 other best friends, whom I befriended when I moved back here.

i've had like one girlwho i could call a best friend in my life...but she moved to another school and when we gardauted i went away...i dont know time did a good job in keeping us apart!

Some best friends do last.. I have one best friend from school who lasted through uni and is still my best friend.. We tell each other everything and confide in each other, who knows absolutely everything about me, my family and same goes for her, how I know everything about her.
I can know what she wants to say or do or how she feels when she just thinks it!

Thats what best friends are like IMHO.

I can actually know what she's going to say next and complete her sentences! lol.. I think if your friendship survives college, then you guys will stay close and best friends for life, even if you get seperated by one getting married or travel or whatever. You would still value each other and would always hold a special place in their hearts!

BestFriends can last forever....I have 3 BestFriends in my life....we went to skool together...we went separate ways...marriage, college etc but we always stuck together. We kept our contacts with eachother....we have had our ups and downs but we always make sure that our friendship gets back on track...we will give in to eachother no matter how far the problem will go....except for taking ur bestfriends man....I have heard so many stories and mate that is when the friendship becomes a blow :bomb: a backstab :6: .....

Ok seriously though :p I don't believe in beeeestest of best friends. There are good friends and they always last, even if you lose contact with them, when you get back in touch it's like you never even left. So that's even better. Like totally.

Best friends are like a couple! It all boils down to the individuals themselves; whether they are understanding with each other, supportive with one another and if they care about each other. If they are, there's no reason to be surprised that they last :)

Whether it lasts forever is according to the types of friends you're talking about.... if they have a strong bond... then yes... it's got the power to last forever...

I've been together with quite a few girls for over 10 years... they've gone away now and have been away for a long time...
yet still when I talk to them... it feels like yesterday... they always remain one and the same :)... I sometimes love to have that old feeling back...lol... certain things never disappear

and being friends is friends regradless the country, gender, or the side influnces such as studying abroad, or not being in much connection due to some responsibilty.

I agree with P.b.a. In order for it to last there has to be some sort of determination from both sides to make it last...if one side starts giving up or loosing interest then it's over.

No i dont think bestfriends can last forever, because nothing lasts forever, a week ago i would've said yes.. but after a recent family death i've realized nothing lasts forever, not even family.

I stopped believing in the concept of best friends too.

I have a lot of friends, good friends, one only is closer to me than the others, but I've learnt to not share everything and that sometimes it's best to keep things to yourself.

If I do want to let it out, I know now who to talk to and who I can truly trust.

I honestly dont believe in having best friends... You can have good friends.. but just rem to draw the line and make sure you dont cross it..

1. Can you have more than one best friend? I thought best friend meant the BEST.

2. My wife is such a great friend. Not just to me, but she keeps up with and loves all her friends from years ago. She has a loyal heart. She doesn't think, "Are they being a good friend to me"; she thinks, "Am *I* being a good friend to *them*." I don't think they would have stayed friends if she hadn't kept loving them. For years, they didn't appreciate it, but now they appreciate it so much. So, part of the answer might be...is one of the friends at least looking to GIVE friendship no matter if it gets boring for a while?

3. TURTLENECKS? In OMAN? And what else do you wear...rain-boots?
