Well, I've been thinking..why dont we have more awards in English Sabla?

Awards like:
Politician of the month?
Artist of the month?
Sportsman of the month?

Please think about it :)

for the rest..it's up to the sabla mods...but to be honest it would be huge hassle to have to handle all these awards every month and there are barely any active mods around who want to take charge of any events. As you noticed it's usually , blossom , thug , SS and myself who handle the awards. I alone take care of 3 and sometimes even 4 events ( best mod , photography, visual arts and sometimes the best member event)..and I don't think I can handle anymore. So yeah..as I said..depends on the rest of the team. :sunsmile:

Mod of each sabla involved would shortlist a few, members then vote

You can think on it , cause you will evaluate yearly performance.

each mod responsible of his sabla can initiate such events in their own sabla (freedom is there) and I love the idea....YET its Up to the Team members ;)

Mods who want to be creative can do so... :)

Then we request Desert Destroyer for a 'Political Debater' of the month award.

Why don't we have Annoyer award, Retard award and Funny award.

This is how I see it.. The idea sounds nice BUT (yes there's always a but), if we go with more awards for every sabla seperately, I suppose we'll give up the general "Best Member award" that we have every month. Okay?

So, if we give up that.. Each sabla would have to have a sufficient number of good members who initiate threads, or are really active or have quality posts! Do you think we have that in each section?

Do you think Sablas like Politics, Religion and IT would have a fair play, without the repetition of the same members each month?
Let me know what suggestions you have for that.

As for awards concerning the members themselves, and have nothing to do with what they post (well, not exactly 'nothing' to do with it) but say "Funniest Member" "Nerdy Member" "Stinky" or "Annoying" .. lol Or even "Worst Member and/or Mod" .. No one can guarantee such polls would go on peacefully and without flaming and offending other members or mods..

And even these nominations would be put by us moderators :)

Many members tend to take such awards seriously and personally, and most of us are not very well known for our sportsmanship :p


Rossonero, since you initiated this thread.. I'm going to ask you to elaborate with your suggestion. :) Give me more doable and realistic poll award competitions. Of course, we're also open for anybody else's input.. We ARE thinking about this suggestion.

I think all these covered under best member. Maybe it can be changed to concentrate on specific sabla every month instead of general.

I don't know much about Sports, as NightFace is in charge of that section and knows for sure who is or isn't active there. But regarding your example in general. Are there many active members in that section besides yourself?

See? That's what I mean.. Every person who considers him/herself really active in a sabla section, should think if they're alone at it, or do you have competition.

BTW, I generally think if we are to implement this every section award, we wouldn't give it a certain timing, meaning it wouldnt be monthly.. In order for us to short list as many members as possible.. And ofcourse, we'd drop the general award for 'Best Member' ... Reasonable?

I like the idea of more awards.....we could have funniest member of the month, kindest member of the month.....etc.

Everybody likes the idea of more awards ;) But y'all should know that with moe awards comes great responsibility (lol)..

Meaning, these awards should be WELL EARNED :)

Go for quarterly or yearly awards.
That will save you from lot of hassle.

I think it is better to cancel all these awards and to simply have monthly competitions mentioning the winner only. That way we are all equal and a normal happy family....unless we want to be represented as www.englishaward.com :).

^ Coming to think of it, good point. One monthly general best member award might be enough, and better than 10 - 15 different topiced awards.

You guys DO have a point.. We've been thinking about all these awards, they're just TOO much, we don't know where to place them and when, and shortlisting the members is just difficult..Specially if they're repeated (even if we have the awards every two months)

Can one of the admins state here ALL the awards and competitions the sabla has to offer? And I mean all of them, and their timings.. :)

As you know we have 'special awards' which are held every 6 months that was especially designed and arranged to focus on the members and sablas that often get neglected in our monthly events..so I really think that's more than enough. Having too many awards ruin the whole 'magic' of getting one..and if we have them in every single sabla and every single month..then sooner or later everyone will have an award. I really think the current system works for the best..and if in time we can think of more events then we will of course introduce them to the members but having limits is actually necessary to give things more meaning.

well we can't really give out an award for something that is not sabla related. that gaming award u suggested doesnt really seem right to me since the game isn't even part of the sabla. Sabla survivor is an official sabla game...which involves sabla members and depends on votes and polls that are done on the board..so it makes sense to give an award for it...you see what i mean?

as much as we would all like more awards (including me) it just isnt realistic... & takes the whole excitement out of them anyhow :)
unless sum1 can come up with 1 or 2 really good awards (& i mean REALLY GOOD) there's no point in coming up with any more suggestions or complaints :)

You guys need to take these things more lightly. Its like you're handing out humanitarian honor awards the way some of you phrase it.

I think it would be fun and enjoyable to have some more awards, especially humorous ones. Sabla is constantly fighting a losing battle to appear more serious and prestige when at the end of the day, it is, and always will be a place to chill and have some fun. Embrace that, its not a bad thing at all.

I've never had the impression there were "famous" names in Sabla.. Sure you'd be popular if you've been in sabla for the past 5 years! :rolleyes:
But we also have live proof of famous and popular names who've only joined LAST MONTH. ;)

I for one, would love to win many awards (Attention seeker), but since I'm talentless, I can't do arts, combos, not very lucky with photography here and am cr@p in poetry.. so all I have is the monthly "Best Member" and now "Best Mod" to focus on.. And I suppose that's fine by me and enough..

Unless we do come up with some new competitions which are sabla related and something members like myself can participate in! :D

Don't take awards and medals TOO seriously, and just remember they're just activites for members to participate in to make the Sabla a pleasant and fun place to be in! :cute:
