View Full Version : Vasectomy: Male Sterilisation
I would like to know the opinion of our members regarding this minor surgical procedure
It is quite invalid do ask whether you will go for it or not as a male, or whether you would support your husband if he ever decided to undergo this procedure, simply because the majority here are young adults whom aren't married as yet
But we can rephrase the Q & ask: Are you pro or anti-vasectomy?

Pineapple Thief 21-07-06, 02:43 PM Not sure. Im not anti ... although some would say its haram. But I think when you reach a certain point, maybe its not a bad idea.
I am against it. Lets just say I would like to keep my options open.
sensation 21-07-06, 03:29 PM I think I am against it too :)
I believe if one is not willing to have children at a certain time then he should look for the other procedures, the temporary ones.
eL3yo0oN 21-07-06, 03:30 PM what exactly is male sterilisation?
sensation 21-07-06, 03:37 PM eL3yo0oN ::
Male sterilisationto is to make a person or an animal unable to have babies, especially by removing or blocking their sex organs.
Refer to the last two illustrations :)
eL3yo0oN 21-07-06, 03:45 PM oh okay...i think its haram so im against it.. isnt it like "ta7deed el nasil" ?
TripleTee 21-07-06, 03:50 PM it ain't the point of 7aram if you're not sure... the question is... why would a male be sterilised?...what's the purpose of that operation? Or the benefits let's say
sensation 21-07-06, 03:55 PM The benifit is for the sterilised male since he can have as much sex as he wants without causing pregnancy! :p
I think!
TripleTee 21-07-06, 04:00 PM :XD: :XD:...lool... ok I got it... ahh...
I would not recommend that :os
Oblivious 21-07-06, 04:01 PM Well, If the man is sure that he doesn't want kids anymore...then, not really a bad idea, but I don't support it.
Libellula 21-07-06, 04:48 PM I am against it.
People have a habit of being indecisive. What you want at some point in life might not be the same as what you want later on. I say, always keep your options open - never limit yourself.
BliNd_MelOn 21-07-06, 04:57 PM What's wrong with normal and traditional contraceptives?
I'm against it.. And I think it's taboo..
If a man doesnt want to have more kids, he can simply not, even without having this surgery. Doesnt need all this complications.
Against, yet I still dnt know if its a taboo or not.

Exactly.
So many women go for sterilisation, whats wrong with men getting it done?
^ Women are different, not that I understand women completely but...lets just say they can get pregrant easier than the man, by force or not by force. XP
DeSerTDesTroYeR 22-07-06, 02:06 PM I'd be against it. The only valid reason I can think of for a man to go for it is when he has a diseases, which can be transmitted or if for some reason it jeopardize his health to an extend that he can die because of it.

DeDe, when is vasectomy done, the semen of the man does not contain sperms, thus he can't make his partner pregnant
It does not protect from any sexually transmitted diseases
It is like the tubal ligation in females, where she is sterile but sexually active & can transmit or contract any STD

DeSerTDesTroYeR 22-07-06, 03:04 PM Oh! Then only the other option is left, which is if it jeopardize his health somehow.
MorphaKnight 22-07-06, 03:52 PM I remember reading my old geography high school book where in most parts of india they sterlize the male population and then give em a free small radio or something...
Personally I'm against it and I see no use for it and no point for it as well..
Solidus 22-07-06, 04:26 PM So many women go for sterilisation, whats wrong with men getting it done?
So you're actually WITH it? :bored:
erm.. I say no to it.. I don't think there's a good enough reason to get it done!
Do not touch the merchandise!

i dont think their bribing those men to get those vasectomies, indias over populated and it puts pressure on the country in more ways than one. why do u think some countries only allow families to have ONE child... their reproducing every minute! lol hahaha..they allow one child and if the family has any more, taxes are raised (i think)
i think women usually have their fallopian tubes tied or have a complete hysterectomy (removing the entire uterus) when they A. decide theyv had enough kids , B. dont want kids or C. for medical reasons maybe the womans health is too fragile to go through pregnancy as it can lead to serious complications
i dont think men and women are very comparable on this subjct because for men its more of a emotional and mental state thats got to do with their masculinity.. getting a vasectomy...well... its like making a decision to become less masculine i think. its a matter of pride and ego. not in a bad way.. its just how it is.. its understandable.
but this is just my opinion :shy:
Currently, I'm neutral. It depends on his reasons.
As Hitman said, many women I personally know were sterilized for various reasons ; some didn't want more children, why is it okay for women and not men? Maybe a couple with already enough children would love to have sex without the use of a contraceptives such as condoms and diaphragms. That's why I don't have a particular stand on this issue, it truly depends.
NicoBambi 29-07-06, 02:03 PM i can't say ...
well i dont know .. depends on the reasons.. but i know a woman cnt have kinds after the age of 40.. it's a bit risky.. so after that age i think men or women can be sterilised...
but ehem i kinda have a question.. does it effect the person? men and women? like their bodies or other things?
Most men don't want to do it because they associate it with their masculinity, sense of "manliness". As if that's where it is.
Wit Insanity 31-07-06, 12:25 PM Just use a condom. As simple as that.
TOTALLY against it.
but ehem i kinda have a question.. does it effect the person? men and women? like their bodies or other things?
No it doesn't & it has no effect on the sex drive
However, some men get psychologically affected
Oblivious 31-07-06, 05:28 PM Just use a condom. As simple as that.
But, I heard it doesn't always work, like 90% or something only, right?

Check the following thread
Contraception Failure Rates (http://www.englishsabla.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36358&highlight=contraception)
I don't think its a good idea.
Oblivious 01-08-06, 12:41 AM Oh, I wanted to reply here, but i did there by mistake:XD:

You can't compare the two methods of contraception
Condoms protect against STD's as well & obviously have the upper hand
Vasectomy is just for permanent sterilisation
Kamakazy 07-08-06, 11:29 AM can the man save his sperm cells just in case he changes his mind later?

What if the kids all die in a car accident, then he will be able to have new childern.
I'm against it.
HITMAN,
1. Is it possible to correct the surgery if a man did it, meaning he will be able to have kids again.
2. I understand that some people do it for animals, am not sure if same process or not in order to gain more weight and people will buy it. So the question is if a human being did it is it going to cause increase in the weight.
Wit Insanity 07-08-06, 05:05 PM I heard that it is reversible. But not all surgeries can be successfully reversed though as far as I know (seen it in movies, so not sure).
And I don't know about whether you can store your sperm or not. I mean, a lot of women has their eggs stored by deep freezing them, I don't see why it isn't the same for a guy.
can the man save his sperm cells just in case he changes his mind later?
Yes, frozen sperms are stored for future in vitro fertilization
However, success rates vary
mm i'm just against this method
i think there are other better methods..right?:os

1- Reversal is possible, but again results vary. The more time elapsed, the least successful the result. For some it might take upto 6 months for the sperms to return. However, when reversal is done within 3 years then the success rates of your partner getting pregnant can be as high as 75%
2- There is no relation between this surgery & weight gain
hello
i saw this operation be4, it is really cool and i like it.
i was wondering about something could control a mans mind and never put his wife in situation where she has to do an operation. this method tells a lot about women right. As a women i am not against it and when ever my man decide to stop haveing babies i shell say u r welcome to do the operation
