Many times the monthly awards were not earned at all......it makes the awards thing look childish.......and cliquie.

Since you've been away , I would like to inform you that Sheikh El Tort recently recieved an award for his acitivity in the religion sabla.

I personally usually pick a few non-muslim names when the time comes to nominate the best members of the month but You have to realize that my votes alone don't count and it's the majority that rules when it comes to these decisions. I also want to point out that most of the non muslim members stick to posting in the religion and politics sablas and kinda ignore the rest of the forum so it's hard for us to vote for members who only stick to one or two sections unless their activity in those areas were really really outstanding.

I dunno if you came to this forum only recently or used to come as a guest before, but if you do you'll realize how many irrational arguments muslims and non-muslims have in religion and politics sabla. Especially since I'm sorry to say that the muslims in this forum still can't seem to argue in a sensible way.

We nominate members according to their attitude and performance I don't care if they're jewish , christian or a buddhist..All I see is how they convey their opinion on this forum and how much I see of them around here. Everyone is welcomed over here..muslim and non muslim.

I appreciate the subject of this forum, but isn't the real point of this forum to exchange and develop ideas? Awards are fine, but that's not why I've joined and have been participating. I haven't been here long and I'm not a Muslim, but I've been impressed by the warmth and hospitality most of the members here.

I hope that non-Muslim members here do more than simply provide an antagonistic vent for the majority of members. Your post (abs) didn't seem in keeping with the general attitute of this forum.

By the way, I speak three languages but Arabic is not one of them. What does "sabla" mean? Does it mean discussion, talk, meeting, or something like that? I have no idea, it may not even be an Arabic word.

If non-Muslims members contributed to sabla as a whole, they would definitely be included in Sabla Events. The only reason, they're not, it is because they concentrate on one or two sections.

Alot of non muslims gave up on this forum because they were attacked as anti Islam when simply they are trying to understand more about Islam.........it's the lack of some members to understand that non muslims may question and debate things in Islam which you yourself coming from Islamic culture find offensive......

I suggest we leave the "who got banned who got warned" thing and concentrate on the procedure of how the awards are given before this turns into another muslim/non-muslim argument.
I understand what fatak's on about and I understand the answers he got.
if I were to speak my mind I'd list down the points I think are true:

-votings can hardly be made fair and members do vote for their friends or relatives...etc. ... perhaps only those who don't know who's who would vote for the ones they think is best. A fact... face it!
-muslims and non-muslims aren't discriminated according to the mods cuz by knowing some of them hardly anyone in the moderation team is a non-muslim hunter. They are however disrespected when it comes to some of the members around, especially when getting into heated religious discussions.
-Those who've been posting for ages in certain sections and didn't get any awards should be taken into account and dealt with somehow. Cuz I think in this, fatak's argument can be understood.

But here's why they received nothing fatak... not discrimination, rather:
the awards given are earned by first: a member's contribution all over the sabla. Second: How much the member's loved by the other members in order to get their votes.
Next it is if the crowd don't vote for what can be considered the right person... it's democracy... like how wrong it is for the USA to vote for Bush again!... democracy is not always right but it's how things work. Otherwise a suggestion should be made of how you all think it should work.

over all, here's the deal... the awards are for best member, best combo...etc. those type of awards are generally speaking. If the mods see the non-muslims paricipating in other sections, they'll by all means be included fatak cuz then the reason of the award would apply to them.

lastly, if some feel that despite their activity in certain sablas they're not appreciated for it. I suggest there should be special awards for the best members according to certain sablas, singularly... and not generally speaking. So no one would feel left out.

For the rest, quit the religious arguments and get to the point..

-muslims and non-muslims aren't discriminated according to the mods cuz by knowing some of them hardly anyone in the moderation team is a non-muslim hunter. They are however disrespected when it comes to some of the members around, especially when getting into heated religious discussions.

I do see this in the religion sabla, but it is both ways. A lot of Muslims disrespect and criticize the Non-Muslims, but the same is happening the other way around. I go around editing equally as much between the Muslims and Non-Muslims members.

However, Moderators all around try to be fair because we know Non-Muslims are in the minority and it's not nice to be attacked by tons of Muslims :os

Chatty, you don't know how many Non-Muslims are issued with official notices and warnings. Not everything is done publicly btw, so you can't accuse us of being unfair but perhaps that's the perception you get, but reality is otherwise.

If the above statement is correct and this is the editorial policy of English Sabla , the thing is simple.
1. Those who are not participating in different sub sabla can’t be taken to the consideration.
2nd. If the criteria is vote of members, issue is over. No vote no awards.

1. marrying more then one wife
2. killing someone who changes their religion

So for non muslims it's just a crime.......and for muslims not.
