Mandazee, I think studying abroad is a very educational experience. I don't think that it's right for everybody since not all people are responsible enough or have the ability to adapt to new environments. Otherwise one can learn how to socialise with people from difft. backgrounds, and become more independent and self sufficient. Also you learn about general everyday life on your own and so make your own decisions which may or may not be right but at least you hope to learn from your mistakes.Learning about the world is very good for a successful future. People can tell if you've been exposed to new ideas because when you talk you will have much more to say and you sound learned.
I would recommend studying abroad and my advise would be not to take your culture for granted but that doesn't mean you should not see new things. Taking risks to some extent can be good for you but be aware of yourself and others and expect to take responsibility for your actions because your family might not be there to get you out of trouble and even if they were you are not in your own country so you must respect the ways of the country you are in.
Also take the opportunity to travel. Student discounts are great in Europe and America and it is the best time to do your own thing.

ya mandazi ya a`7oy
i study abroad too and i think that the only thing that we arabs generaly and omani's in particulary need is to know that we are proud of who we are . and we do not need americans or whoever to tell us where we stand. Pain is only temporary YET proud is forever.
look forward to hearing from you.

Mandazee,
(Let me talk about omanies)
If it is necessary that they travel aborad for any reason, so I pray to ALLAH to grant them all the sucess.
1. The people who are aborad will learn alot of things, especially will be able to depend on themselves in alot of things like cooking, washing,....etc. And also, you can find that people when traveling can change experience and informations....etc. Also they benefit that they can make freindship with other people in different nations. Also I feel these kind of travels can be a good oppourtunity for muslims to demonstrate Islam among other non-muslim countries, and hence they can call for Allah (Da'awah).
2. I advice who ever travel:-
1. if the travel to non-muslim country, he MUST observe ALLAH in all his/her reacts.
2. Avoid making freindship with people who do bad deeds.
3. Take it as agood oppurtuniy for DA'AWAH.
4. Take Quraan with him. Qurran is the best thing to read if he is feeling with boring.
5. If the travel to a muslim country, so It is good that he can benefit from all the muslim borhters their in different subjects.
Finally, Muhammed (P.B.U.H), said that travel, should be only to QUDUS, MADINAH AND MACCAH, Only if there is something necessary like (study, work, medical attendence....etc)
All the best

This is an intresting topic .. wanna see what new members think about it.
1-What are the thinges that he learn from living alone?
Well living abroad is a degree by its self. I personaly learned how to be patient ... I did not beleive I could actually have the strngths that I had when I was abroad.
I learnt about many cultures that are so differnet than what we usually see.
Made many international friends from all over earth.
learnt how to cook :p
2-What advices that we shuold tell him to Fallow to be happy?
you have to make as much friends as you can .. it might be your only chance.
Enjoy yourself but respect your religion
You are an ambassoder to your country .. so behave respectably.
respect the cuontry you are in .. even if you dont like it at all..
well those are few thoughts .. many members are lived abroad .. so lets see what do you say ..
nice topic.
you guyz satisfied the answer.
I will try to add what i've learnt of my experience, although am in the half of the way, and i also feel that i didnt learn enough much cause you live in an endless school. School of Life, the Tests of god on you and for you.
1-What are the thinges that he learn from living alone?
I learnet how to be independent. i learnet that people are diffrent and you will have to justify yourself to live in a diffrent society a diffrent situation or a diffrent world. I learned how to settle myself by my own myself. Find what fits me.
*LEarned what can family mean. how preciouse and how they suffer to get you the life you are in.
*Learned that there is nothing in this world to suffer for. People hurt and rehurt and hurt you again but the only thing you will leave in this world is your good deeds.Loving them and treat bad oppositly!
*Learned the diffrence between being naive and kind. the word kind that most people missuse.
*Learned to open my mind for another view and never stricked it in one sided.
*I learnet that i can be what i want if i wanted to and worked hard for it.
Basically i wont stop from what i have in my box of learning. I learned that how high my knowledge will be i will be just a
. a dot in what people know.
2-What advices that we shuold tell him to Fallow to be happy?
to understand the statement that says: Lideenak 3alayka 7aq walinafsika 7aq. Which means you have to work hard for your god. on the other hand dont you ever forget that yourself should have its right as well.
1-What are the thinges that he learn from living alone?
he learns lots of things and if i type all that things which i have learnt in the yrs which i was away from my country u will say stop please ........
as being dependent and shy person i learnt to not shy coz being shy dosnt let u to develop and get matured ........u always be a very weak person when u r shy ........ i learnt that i have to fight for my own right ....... i learnt that the world which i'm living in dosnt work without money so i have to works hard to make money ........ so when i make money i develop my country ..........when my country is developed then everybody will proud on me ........ then i will be teaching others how to be successful ......... so all this makes me a very successful person .......... as they said the more u learn the more u forget ...........the more u forget the less u learn ..............so try to learn more and forget less .............i learnt many other things which helps me to live happily ........ and one important thing i got as a gift from my god is my isalm became very strong .........and i could memorise some of the ayats ..........
2-What advices that we shuold tell him to Fallow to be happy
when u r abroad dont forget ur god ......... if u forgat ur god u will loss ur life ........ try to avoid what alah told us to avoid ......... be proud on ur religion ........ dont forget ur culture and tradition ........ despite being in a developed country and a country which differs from ur country at all be proud on ur self and always remeber why u left ur country and what is ur aim in this country ......... why u came to this country ........dont think about the celbrations and what ever happening in ur country coz one day u will celebrate as well and thast when u fly back to ur country and everybody is proud on u ........when ur country is proud on u .......... so u will be happy and do veeything u missed ............:weep: .........focus on ur studying just studying ...........

I have been abroad for 3 years. It was a very nice experience, I learned to be independant and that is something really great.
Everything is hard in the beginning, I was so homesick, I cried so much and all I wanted to do is go back home to my family and friends and to my country. After a while I realised that I wasn't the only one with those feelings so I settled in more easily.
Now I am so happy to be back but sometimes I miss my time that I had in Europe.

Leaving home was a big step for me, as i have been living home, with my parents for as long as i remember and have been very protected that i actually thought that i may not be able to survive alone abroad. But Alhamdulilah I'm surviving and Happy!
I think that students who travel abroad learn to be independent and learn to take responsibilities at hand. It teaches them how to manage their money and to take matters in life seriously. I believe some students take pretty easy in the begining, thinking that this a their step towards freedom, however, eventually they learn from any mistakes they make.
Living away from home educates you about different cultures, religions and attitudes of different people towards life. It teaches you things that probably you never took seriously back home, because you are alone and need to survive. It broadens your mind and prepares you for life in the future. I could go on about what leaving home and studying/living abroad can teach an individual, but i'm pretty sure some of the members have mention it.
My advise is, in order to be happy you have put your priorities before anything else. Think of the reason you have left home to live abroad, is it to get a better education, to get a job, or to live a better life. Whatever the case, those reasons should be kept first and be taken care of. Thus, you will be happy and be successful. Besides, the only reason you are away will probably be in order to achieve something inorder to be happy.
Remember 'Time is money' :)
i wanted to open this topic but found out it's already opened :bang: :bang: :bang:

Well... when you study outside, you learn alot. The culture, the way people live.. many things you never knew or throught existed.
Studying abroad or travelling braodens your mind, it gives you lots of knowledge and makes you know and learn automatically.
You get to meet lots of other people from different parts of the world, you become able to handle money and responsibitly.
I do not study abroad, but that's what I see from people who study abroad.
i lived abroad for a long time and it was some of my best years i learn a lot whilei was in the USA, being responsible, independant, cooking (yah guyz cooking) and i developed my personal skills :color: i wouldn't mind going back and study again

I live abroad... alone.. yes it is such a great experience..
I have learnt to be more responsible for my actions (well..sort of!:D) to be my own boss! dependant!
Rely on myself to get whatever it is I seek!
I'm happy and free... Yet.. Responsible...
