Is the guy a prophet? No. So whatever he says wont make a difference. The Quran is there for people who wish to turn to Islam for their own reasons and not by persuasion.

He is a number one idiot that I have ever heard.

Reading through the lines, His Eminent; Shaikh Baashir is making a declaration that : both himself and the victims of the bomb are in the same boat. i.e, victims of opportunity whereby one side is set-up for blame it has nothing to do with that incident.
