View Full Version : Raped Girl
"If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives" {Deuteronomy 22:28-30}
One must ask a simple question here, who is really punished, the man who raped the woman or the woman who was raped? According to the Bible, you have to spend the rest of your life with the man who raped you.
What do you think about this, does it makes sense?

Pure Sh**T. WHAT the hell? why would you punish the harmless victim? he may violate her some more, and beat her or be extremely abusive. what good can come of this?

complete B.S...it is wrong wrong wrong for the woman to spend eternity with a rapist no matter what..
The woman who got raped is the complete sufferer. I mean, what if the guy is downright ugly, and a drunk, rapes her and then marries her. What's to become of the life of the woman? She has to live with it for the rest of her miserable life!
So yes, it's wrong. The man who raped her should be punished accordingly, and that should be no less than 20 years in jail rotting away until he becomes gay.
sheik, this is an example of a man made rule.

Sounds better than being stoned to death like they would the rape victim if she lived in PAkistan.
Sounds better than being stoned to death like they would the rape victim if she lived in Pakistan.
Really? Raped victims are stoned to death in Pakistan? Do you've evidence to support your statement. In Islam, I know you're stoned to death if you commit adultery and that is only if you're married, but not when you're raped. Gosh what have Muslims come to :os
lol Lym i dont think that it's true

Pakistan is a muslim country, and stoning a rape victim is not part of islam. It's another ridiculous man made rule, just like having to marry the man who raped you. Personally I'd rather be stoned if those were my only two options.
He cant divorce her, but she can divorce him. I believe she or her father can also refuse the marriage.
^^^ I thought so too, the Torah (God's Word) can never be nonesense! God forbids
I don't think that qoute is the word of god.
if it was taken from the boards that were written for Moses then it's supposed to be the word of God wait a min i'll check...
I checked and Deuteronomy is from the Torah (the 5th book in the bible)
Kara is that correct ?

Zafran Bibi originally went to the police two years ago to register a case of rape, but she herself was instead charged with having an adulterous affair.
She gave birth to a son while her husband was in prison and a court in the conservative town of Kohat in North-West Frontier Province found her guilty of adultery.
She is currently in jail in the town with her seven-month-old baby and has not been allowed to meet human-rights groups or journalists.
its a rare case, IF it was true, not a set law! just like the 16 year old boy when he was caught for making out with a 15 year old girl and was put in jail for this...There must have been something that made the court see that the woman is guilty too
and I dont think the woman is stoned is she ?? :os
Well sharia law requires the woman to produce 4 witnesses to the rape.
Pretty much impossible to do, you would agree, and that would effectively deprive the victim of any justice.
that is if someone accused someone else of adultery, not when a woman claims that she was raped
if you accuse someone of adultery, you have to bring 4 witnesses, and THEN the sharia law takes place and they will be stoned to death if thet were married, and if they were not married they would be scourged... Which means that it rareley happens, because as you said urself, nobody can bring 4 witnesses to prove that someone committed adultery, can you see the mercy in this ?
If a woman claims rape and the man denies it, what are her options ?
I checked and Deuteronomy is from the Torah (the 5th book in the bible)

Yes that is correct :)

If the man denies it, then he has to produce witnesses, because unfairly accusing a woman of being unchaste is one of the greatest sins, (al-moobiqat) so actually the law favors the woman.

I don't understand. When quoting a verse from the Jewish tradition, does it not make sense to ask a Jew about the meaning of that source before jumping to a conclusion? No one above seemed interested in doing so.
He cant divorce her, but she can divorce him. I believe she or her father can also refuse the marriage.
This is correct.
The reason for this law is simple, according to the Jewish tradition: In past times, if a woman was raped, it very hard for her to find a husband to marry, and women were far more dependent on their husbands for support. Without a husband, she was in danger of starving. Thus, since the man ruined her chances of finding a mate, and literally endangers her future life, he is forced to marry her and thus support her. However, if the woman feels she is not so desparate, as she has other means of financial support, or feels that other husbands are available, then she is fully entitled to refuse to marry him, or end the marriage whenever she wishes.
It should be noted, strictly speaking, this law was only addressed to Jews.
